Your Turn, 23
EXT. DAY (afternoon) – THE ESTATE ON WHICH THE CHARACERS LIVE.
INT. DAY – INSIDE 23’S BEDROOM.
23 is shown looking out of his window in to other people’s
houses.
23
(Narrating)
People don’t act the same way when they know they’re being
watched, which can be for better or for worse if truth be
told.
EXT. DAY – THE ESTATE AS VISIBLE FROM 23’S WINDOW.
23 looks to one of the parallel houses and finds a lonely
child throwing a ball against a wall and catching it multiple
times.
23
(Narrating)
I’ll stare out of my window in the day and
watch a neglected child throw a ball against a wall and
catch it. Rinse and repeat. They have no-one, only the
cold and brittle bricks...
23 looks to another house and sees a man drinking wine and
crying in his kitchen.

23
(Narrating)
...Or the silhouette of a crying man through his canted blind
in his kitchen. To his aid, an empty wine glass that a
Freudian might tell you was purchased due to the
resemblance it displays of his adulterous Wife’s figure. But
no matter how much liquid amnesia he baptises himself with
nightly, he is never without the throbbing, intrusive company
of his mind.
INT. DAY (morning) – 23’S BEDROOM
23 walks through his bedroom door with a cup of tea and closes
the door behind him. 23 walks to his usual windowsill and sets
the cup of tea down. 23 looks out in search for something new.
23 looks directly opposite his window and sees 74,
participating in the same voyeuristic activities as him.
23
(Narrating)
Not to say that I didn’t enjoy observing these... but it
doesn’t compare to her.
INT. DAY – INSIDE 23’S ROOM
23’s reaction to 74 is shown.
23
(Narrating)
...Or that I didn’t find them interesting...

23 opens his window as to not let his own translucent
reflection obscure his vision.
23 and 74 lock eyes and 23 is left petrified.
23
(Narrating)
...But they don’t compare to her
23 watches 74 look around his garden as if she is inspecting
it.
EXT. DAY - 74’S WINDOW
74 drops her dressing gown and 23 stares at the wet hair on
her back. 74 grabs a brush and starts brushing her hair
slowly, in a theatrical manor.
74 breaks her seductive character and scuttles to get a
whiteboard and pen, and put her dressing gown on.

Your Turn 23
INT. DAY – 23’S BEDROOM
23 closes his window and is shown to be visibly distressed. 23
shuts his blinds and gets ready to go to college.

23
(Narrating)
She called me by my house number, how she knew it, I don’t
know.
EXT. DAY – PATH LEADING TO THE TRAIN STATION
23 is walking in a panicked and thoughtful way, thinking about
the experience he just had.
INT. DAY – TRAIN
23 is resting his dead on the window on the train and looking
depressed and disappointed him himself.
INT. DAY – COLLEGE
23 walks around college and notices how easily people can
interact with each other, and he feels pathetic about this.
INT. DAY – CLASSROOM
23 is asked a question in class and fails to get the words out
to answer at first. Some of his classmates laugh at him. 23
answers the question but is visibly embarrassed, and his
feelings have clearly increased from earlier.
EXT. DAY (AFTERNOON) – TRAIN STATION
23 is shown skipping lots of songs that he’s listening to
because his state of mind is too cloudy to be satisfied with
one.

23 takes his earphones out in frustration and gets on the
train when it comes.
INT. DAY – TRAIN
23 is leaning his head on the window again.
23 then becomes very upset and leans forward and rests his
head in his hands. When he lifts his head, we see that he has
been crying.
INT. DAY – 23’S BEDROOM
23 walks through his bedroom door and sets his bag down. 23
sits at his desk chair and slams his fist on his table in
frustration. 23 is immediately regretful and embarrassed about
this because he thinks his family might have heard.
He decides to walk to his window and sit by it for a moment,
and think about 74.
After a day of thinking about her, and getting frustrated at
himself, 23 re-opens the blinds to see if she is still there.
23 looks across to see if she is in her window again, and she
isn’t. However, she has left something for him.
74
(Whiteboard writing)
I’m 74
23’s face his shown and he cracks a small smile.
