1. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF AGE THIRTY (30)
There are many assertions from people about certain figures and what they
represent. Many people believed that figure five (5) stands for grace and
figure seven (7) represents perfection. What brought about this conclusion is
a prerogative of people that belong to this school of thought. Maybe it should
be concluded that every figure have a specific meaning. But, from Christian
compass committed to our hand through our past elders, we can conclude that
there are notable things about some figure which thirty (30) is one of them if
there were any other figure with specific meaning from the pages of the Bible.
The figure in this context is a function of age and not of numerical order.
Age 30 as it were has been what I’ve wondered and thought so much about, it
premise is not yet fully revealed to my feeble heart. I wondered why Nigeria
will not permit any graduate that shot pass age thirty (30) to go for Youth
Service; they are often relieved as it were to continue with their life without
serving their father land. Have they lost what is needed to serve? If you were
faithful with the age you claimed you were born and all things being equal, the
eldest among us should be thirty years old this year or a little bit over thirty.
I believed there is a great significance about this age as I will quickly point
your attention to certain men and their attainment at this age, Joseph was 17
years old when he discovered the purpose of God for his life but he never
came into it fulfillmenttill age 30. Gen 41:46 (GNB) says Joseph was 30 when
the king made him governor, and he went everywhere for the king. It was at
this age he came into God’smandatefor his life and at this pointall old dreams
and prophecies started coming into fulfillment.
2. King David was a king that God himself could not forget hastily in His account;
he was a king after the heart of God and did everything according to God’s
command. The bible commended him that he was faithful throughout his
lifetime except for the issue of Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife. David was also
anointed a king at a tender age but he did not become king over Israel hastily,
God prepared him as armour bearer, singer, hymn writer, sweet psalmist of
Israel and as warrior. He became king at age 30 too. 2 Sam 5:4 (GNB) says
David was 30 years old when he became king, and he ruled for 40 years. The
fulfillment of God’s promises came to pass on David at this age also.
Jesus Christ our perfect example also has this trend. Jesus was baptized at age
30 and started his ministry fully, until he attained this age, he never broke out
of shell of incubation. Luke 3:23a (GNB) says when Jesus began to preach, he
was about 30 years old. He was found sitting with the teachers in the temple
as Apostle Luke told us of his account when he was about 12 years of age.
With critical check of these three personalities, we can conclude from the
Word of God that there is something significant about age 30. A man should
start manifesting God in all facet of life as he clock 30; we are persuaded that
as you are passing out of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), you are passing
on to fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. But, may I ask you, have you
discovered God’s purpose for your life? Joseph knew he would become food
distributor, David knew he would become king and Jesus knew he was the
Messiah.
Our dear brothers and sisters completing this one year compulsory service,
may you fulfillGod’s purposein life and for the rest of us, may God growsus to
fulfill His purpose.
