ACROSS
BRAINTWISTERS
This BrainTwister was done by Hamed Shafiul Haque
I am shrouded in a
white cloth
I can’t feel my hands,
With them I had
wiped the tears of my
mother
I can’t feel my feet,
With them I had run
away from bullets
I am in the lap of a
stranger,
Holding me, with tears
in his eyes
“Houriyeh, Houriyeh” is
resonating in the air
Thousands of people
are marching with
moist eyes
Walking with their feet
and their fists held
high
I see my friends
wearing the same
clothes as mine,
Shrouded in white
cloth, their eyes open
but unmoved
Their faces I can’t
recognize,
I see Salma
Her skin is hanging,
I can see her naked
cheek bones
But her blue eyes
speak of the
innocence
she died with
I am being lowered
into the dark cell,
I won’t have a
tombstone to identify
my grave,
I will be remembered
by the ‘Al Houla
Massacre’
I have been put with
my friends, with little
babies
Soil has been put
over me.
It’s dark now
I can hear the voices
dying down,
I can hear my father
wailing,
My Mother has turned
mad, she can’t
believe
“He was smiling and
playing with me
yesterday”
Mother, take me
back.
I didn’t want to die.
