Three good life decisions
There have been many decisions in the past I have made. The three best decisions of my life were
coming to Morehouse, learning how to play guitar, and choosing to work in San Francisco. I said
going to Morehouse was a good decision because the business program here is vigorous and
fulfilling. It is hard work now, but I know it will pay off in the future when I go work in corporate
America. This ties to my other great life decision which was deciding to work in San Francisco at
a company called Balance. The internship was perfect for a business major because I was able to
learn about call centers, home loans, and how the housing market works. This was a remarkable
experience for me because I had to cold call clients and book appointments for them. The clients
would get appointments to speak to housing counselors who would help them get out of financial
debt and avoid foreclosure. I also got a feel for what a desk job environment feels like because I
had to work in a cubicle while being next to other employees. The employees and I worked as a
team which help me develop leadership and interpersonal skills. These are skills I can use for the
rest of my life and take with me to my next job. Playing guitar is another great decision because
it became a passion of mine. It is an instrument I still play to this day and I only get better as the
years go on. Guitar has helped me make friends in school and explore different music genres.
This ties to both of my good decisions because guitar has taught me to be disciplined, open minded,
and persistent which are three traits that can help me be successful in the workplace.
