3. A study to assess the knowledge, preferred
choices and the problem faced regarding
method of contraception adopted by married
women attending family welfare clinics of
Delhi and seek the relationship with selected
factors.
4. To assess the existing knowledge of married
women regarding various methods of
contraception.
To identify the most preferred methods of
contraception (temporary or permanent)
among married women.
To determine the problems faced by married
women after using various permanent and
temporary methods of contraception.
5. To find out the association of knowledge of
married women regarding family planning
methods with selected factors like age,
education, occupation, income, type of family
and number of living children.
To seek the association between the knowledge
of married women and problem faced by them
after using various methods of contraception.
6. To find the most occurring and least occurring
problematic methods of contraception.
8. The best decisions about family planning are
those that people make for themselves, based
on accurate information and a range of
contraceptive options. People who make
informed choices are able to use family
planning safely and effectively. Providers and
programs have a responsibility to help people
make informed family planning choices.
9. Lack of knowledge of contraceptive methods
can be a major obstacle to their use. There are
many factors like religion, type of family,
household, income, mother’s level of education
which affects the pattern of contraceptive use.
There is a need for clearing the misconception
about side effects of family planning methods
by health care providers, workers and
counselors.
10. There is also a need for knowing more about
misconception and other problems faced by
women using various temporary and
permanent methods of contraception.
The researcher felt the need to assess the
knowledge of women regarding family
planning methods.
11. There is a need to know why the women are
discontinuing the existing methods of
contraception.
13. Pilot study was conducted in the Family
Planning Association of India, R. K. Puram,
New Delhi.
The final study was conducted at Safdarjung
Hospital, New Delhi.
14. Findings of the study show, majority of
married women using contraceptive devices,
52(52%) were in the age group of 21-30 years,
majority of the subjects 43(43%) were illiterate,
majority of married women 87(87%) were
house wife.(N-100)
15. On the basis of the present study, the
researcher concluded that there is a need to
conduct a study to assess the knowledge,
preferences and problem faced by married
women using various methods of
contraception.
