o Mackintosh with draw sheet or towel.
o Disposable gloves(clean).
o Toothbrush.
o Toothpaste.
o Log of tepid water.
o Emollients (liquid paraffins, coconut
oil, boroglycerineVaseline.
o Cotton applicator.

UNCONSCIOUSPATIENTS-
o Facetowel.
o Mackintosh with drawsheet.
o Disposable gloves(clean)
o Artery forceps
o Dissecting forceps.
o Tonguedepressor
o Mouth gag
o Potassium permanganate(1gm:5000ml)

o Emollients (liquid paraffins, coconut oil, boro glycerineVaseline

9. AFTER CARE
Remove and dispose off equipmentappropriately.
Remove and discard the gloves.
Remove kidney tray, mackintosh and towel.
Make the patient comfortable.
Tidyup the unit.
In unconscious patient, if there is collection of secretions in
mouth, apply suction.
Take all the articles to treatment room. Discard the
waste as per protocol of biomedical waste
management and clean the articles with soap and
water.
Wash hands.
Record the time and nature of treatment and condition of
the mouth on nurse record. Document assessment of the
teeth, tongue, gums, and oralcavity.
