• When you have abundant knowledge about your job,
you can be an expert in your field. But, the best
knowledge in your field is only the beginning of the
journey. You also need experience and a lot of practice.
What do you think is more difficult? Building something
new or repairing something old? (electrician, Martin)
130A
Medicine is seen as an important weapon for treating
human diseases. Medicines save tens of millions of
patients’ lives every year. However, because of hyper
medication, which means dosages that exceed acceptable
levels in the human body, adverse drug reactions also
cause millions of medically-induced diseases every year.
Why does hyper medication happen? How can it be
avoided? ( Medical Chemistry, Cheng)
130A
Economic and social disparity is quite apparent in third world countries.
There is gap between the rich and poor people. There are some poor
people without access to education, whereas others in the same
country have access to education and are able to be successful in
business and other lucrative fields. What are the factors that can
contribute to the alleviation (lessening) of poverty? How do we
decrease the gap between the rich and the poor?
(Business, Amal )
130B
Digging down to a deep level in the earth’s crust in search
of oil can be expensive, time-consuming, and hazardous,
as it can cause earthquakes and the escape of natural gas
and other flammable gasses. Do you think reaching such a
deep level is necessary? Do you think accessing oil is
worth the risks?
(Petroleum engineering, Yousff Alwazzan)
130B
Government and business are strongly connected
because the action of one often has a great impact
on the other. It is in the government's best interest
to keep the economy healthy by encouraging
positive environments for small and large
businesses. What are the best ways for
governments to encourage small and large
businesses to succeed? (Kholood, Business)
130B
• Like many scientific professions, forensic science is
changing rapidly due to automation, advances in
biochemistry, and DNA typing. Many people know
forensic science only through the media, principally TV
shows such as CSI. Others see something on the news,
or possibly have relatives in law enforcement. But what
is this job actually all about and what is it really like to
work in it?
(Forensic science, Hassan)
