2. Introduction & History
•Scottsdale Treatment Institute opened it’s doors in 1995 and is one
of the most established company‘s in Arizona to offer court
mandated services.
•STI was founded as an Outpatient Treatment Facility providing
medically assisted treatment for alcohol and drug addiction.
•Phoenix Municipal Court asked if we could offer court mandated
services. That is when STI became fully licensed to provide court
mandated services and has not stopped since!
•STI believes in the philosophy of providing a healthy, comfortable
and caring environment to treat our court mandated clients.
5. • To get the approval, there were two
obstacles per ARS regulations:
1. Face-to-Face
2. HIPPA Compliance
• Our experience with Telemedicine
(live face-to-face) provided the insight
to resolve the ARS requirements
• Secure HIPPA Compliant Connection
(Nefsis, verasign)
•Arizona Department Health Services
granted STI approval to provide all
TELEDUI® services to court referred
clients for the past seven years
6. • The approval from AzDHS allows STI to
provide:
-Alcohol and Drug screening
R9-20-108(A.2.a)
-MVD screening
-Driver’s License Reinstatement
-Individual Sessions
-Education & Treatment Groups
• Requirements for TELEDUI® Clients:

Arizona violation to complete
court requirements without
returning to Arizona.
• Eliminates the need to find an
approved agency in their location.
• TELEDUI® has vastly increased
court compliance
• Individuals in rural areas, lack of
transportation, or under house
arrest are able to complete the
screening, groups or individual

8. •TELEDUI® has been used WORLD WIDE!
•People who travel for work
•Removes barriers to accessing court
mandated services
• Groups in theater style group room

exclusive
9. • STI treats approximately 3,400 court mandated clients per
year: Alcohol, Drug, PASM, DNVP, STOP clients.
• STI pioneered teledui services, and received special
approval from AzDHS in 2008 for TELEDUI® education and
treatment
• As a result of providing these services STI began writing the
16 hours modular program in 2012. With the expectation
STI would have to receive special approval to use the 16
hour modular program. However, we did not need special
approval due to AzDHS revised statutes in 2015.
• AzDHS revised its AZ administrative code in January, 2015 to
include, electronic (teledui) services for screening,
education and treatment. R9-20-103 and R9-20-109
(C)(3)(b) For 16 hour modular UNDER RULE R9-20-

26. How Does STI communicate with
Courts and Referral Agencies?
• In 2000, we developed a proprietary program specifically to communicate
with courts and track compliance and attendance, to include:
-Scheduling
-Screening/Intake Dates
-Start Date/Completion Date/Non Compliant Date
(reviewed daily in a batch report by STI Administration)
-Monthly Progress Reports to courts if requested
-Completion and/or Non-Compliant Discharge Reports
• In 2014 a complete upgrade to this vital program was completed.
