RAYTHEON
LED RETROFIT WITH "GREEN" RESULTS
Case StudyComprehensive solutions for powerful branding.
Instead of trying to repair neon outages in the 8’Raytheon lettersets we converted them to LED. This involved:
Removing neon tubing, tube supports and transformers.
Fabricating aluminum baffles in the shape of the Raytheon letters then populating them with red LED
modules.
Federal Heath Service Technicians utilized the buildings certified window washing rig and davits to install the
baffles inside the channel letters atop the 158' high buildings.
SOLUTIONS & SCOPE OF WORK:
BENEFITS OF RETROFITTING YOUR SIGNS WITH LED:
Increases your company’s commitment to“GO GREEN”.
On average, LED lighting reduces energy consumption by up to 70% compared to neon or fluorescent
lamps.
Burn life of 50,000 to 100,000 hours depending on LED color, thus significantly decreasing maintenance cost.
Power supplies can be remotely located in an area accessible by 1 man in a service truck.
Potential for energy rebates from power companies.
Should you decide to repaint the returns of the letters and/or replace the face(s) of the letters it can refresh
the entire appearance of the signage at a fraction of the cost of installing new signs.
LED’s actually illuminate better in colder weather and light output can be adjusted or dimmed if necessary.
Federal Heath has retrofit many notable signs with LED’s such as; Coca Cola World Headquarters, the iconic
CITGO sign above Fenway Park and over 100 Target Stores.

could repairs be made.

HYATT REGENCY
NATIONWIDE REIMAGING - EXTERIOR
Case StudyComprehensive solutions for powerful branding.
Create a brand look that would help Hyatt Regency stand apart from other Hyatt hotel brands, such as
the Grand Hyatt.
Federal Heath was asked to survey all 123 properties to catalogue current signage and prepare budget
estimate for conversion.
All locations were budget estimated using the new brand book and survey information and presented for
evaluation and approval.
Hyatt released Federal Heath to prepare site specific designs for all 123 sites and released 21 corporately
owned properties for production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
DELIVERY OF PROJECT:
Federal Heath aligned the Hyatt Regency brand on the foundation:“Convene, Connect & Consider”.
The custom-crafted hexagon logo was created to move away from using a simple word mark and to
exude an innovative visual identity that provoked though while providing space to re-energize.
A rich color palette of purple, gray, white, orange and brown was used because of their generous and
welcoming nature, as well as to emphasize that the Hyatt Regency is a place to stimulate creativity.
•
•
CHALLENGE:
Hyatt Regency was looking to revitalize its logo and brand message so as to move away from their original,
generic look, and to create a unique image that would separate it from the rest of the Hyatt hotel brands.
•
•
•
•
•
RESULTS:
The hotel’s new image helped establish Hyatt Regency as a place for business travelers to connect and
convene. Key stakeholders and consumer testing embraced the new visual identity with enthusiasm; Hyatt
Hotels will continue to rollout the new brand elements as it develops and renovates properties.

HOLIDAY INN / HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS
GLOBAL PROGRAMS
Case StudyComprehensive solutions for powerful branding.
Our first obstacle was to become an authorized sign supplier. Prior to becoming an approved IHG supplier
we had to fabricate eight prototype signs, which were reviewed and critiqued by SMC. SMC also inspected
two of our five manufacturing facilities and made in-plant product inspections throughout the program. To
our understanding, 85 sign companies were evaluated which was narrowed down to 22.
SMC was instructed by IHG to manage their project in a manner which allowed each hotel owner to control
funding which meant we were responsible for negotiating contracts with individual franchisees.
Once the signs were installed, SMC performed day/night inspections, creating a punch list which had to be
corrected within 2 to 4 weeks.
OBSTACLES:
SMC advised Federal Heath near the completion of the program that we were one of 10 sign companies
who did 80% of the work.
To date; Federal Heath has fabricated and installed existing signs for over 300 hotel properties.
We are one of seven authorized IHG sign suppliers. We continue to fabricate and install Holiday Inn and
Holiday Inn Express signs along with Candlewood Suite and Staybridge signs as these brands continue to
grow.
Just as the former Holiday Inn great signs were iconic the new up lit“H”is being recognized by a new
generation.
•
•
CHALLENGE:
In 2008, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) decided to revitalize their Holiday Inn / Holiday Inn Express
properties throughout the Americas.
Signage was only a portion of the overall global relaunch program. Individual hotel owners weren’t
permitted to have new signs until they met stringent quality standards and fulfilled brand hallmark
requirements. Replacement sign recommendations, brand books and scopes of work were produced by
Sign Management Consultants (SMC), who oversaw the reimaging of over 2,600 hotels in the Americas.

signs.
OBSTACLES:
Federal Heath used their network of subcontractors to acquire all necessary field information.
All of the Federal Heath manufacturing facilities were used to ensure that delivery dates were met.
Overall, site signage was installed on time and on budget.

HYATT PLACE
HI-RISE EXPERTISE
Case StudyComprehensive solutions for powerful branding.
Due to the buildings height and shape, using a scaffolding was impractical. There was also no hydro crane
large enough in the Denver area
RESPONSIBILITIES:
DELIVERY OF PROJECT:
Federal Heath worked with a local installer, Colorado Lighting, and had professional repellers lower
themselves from the roof to perform most of the hi-rise work.
CHALLENGE:
When a Hyatt franchisee took over a Denver hotel, he asked Federal Heath to install signage onto an adjacent
20+ story office tower.
RESULTS:
The customer was amazed at the approach used to install the signage and appreciated Federal Heath’s
resourcefulness in finding a way to get the job done. In the customer’s own words,“I know this one came with

LOWE'S & SHERWIN WILLIAMS
DIGITAL PRINTING & NATIONWIDE FULFILLMENT
Case StudyComprehensive solutions for powerful branding.
Produced 1820 each of the large and medium headers and 3640 of the small headers within a six week
time frame.
Provided engineering assistance to IMS on the construction of the headers, reducing the amount of
material required by 20% and resulting in savings of over $35,000.
Performed dynamometer testing to verify the tensile strength and seismic durability of the solvent
welded headers.
Color management precautions were taken to ensure that the colors of the three different sized headers
matched perfectly.
Provided weekly shipments of all three headers to allow IMS to maintain an aggressive shipping
schedule to Lowe's.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
CHALLENGE:
When Innovative Marketing Solutions (IMS) was awarded the Lowe’s Sherwin Williams HGTV Paint Display
the project required producing over 7000 headers in three different sizes. The three different sized headers
needed to match precisely. Complicating the project was a very aggressive shipping schedule that required
making weekly progress shipments of all three headers.
RESULTS:
Federal Heath’s large format in-line screen printing presses provided the necessary productive capacity to
complete the printing in a very tight time frame which allowed assembly to begin within days of starting
production. An ISO certified quality system supported by state-of-the-art spectrophotometric color control
insured that the three different headers matched each other precisely.

The client requested that the LED screen for the EMC be increased from the originally proposed 100 square
feet to the maximum allowable size as determined by the FAA and county commission.
