PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:-
Senior Software Engineer @ Schneider Electric
November 2012 - Present
Multi-site team spread across India, Poland, Germany, China and France
Working on an IED (Intelligent Electronic Device) Configurator tool (a WinForms
application) in VB.net using XPath with MSXML to process and configure the MCL and
1
2. IEC61850 compliant SCL files of MiCOM IEDs. Some of the responsibilities include: -
- Optimization of requirements and creation of software requirement
specification
- Design and development of a library to support the various Editions of the
IEC61850 standard in terms of patching all the configured elements into the
CID file
- Design of a datagridview to showcase and modify the report clients for the
Report Control Blocks (RCBs)
Working on the FPN (Functional Product Naming) tool in C# to convert a virtual IED
containing configuration details to a physical IED of any vendor of user’s choice in
which some of the responsibilities include: -
- Design and development of the infrastructure to create and use customary
FPN files to compare the structure of Logical Nodes (LNs) of a virtual and a
physical IED using LINQ
Worked on PowerCET tool which uses WPF and XAML to provide a generic platform
for various types of circuit breakers like Micrologic, Compact NSX in order to
configure and monitor them
Software Engineer @ Schneider Electric
2009 - October 2012
In-house team in collaboration with French partners
Worked on an IED (Intelligent Electronic Device) and System Configurator tool (a
WinForms application) in VC++ using MFC to configure IEC61850 compliant relays
and gateways and establish communication network within the substation system
formed by these devices. The SCL (Substation Configuration Language) files are
parsed using Xerces which creates DOM tree information retrieval. Some of the
responsibilities included: -
- Analysis of the offer requirements and creation of UML diagrams using
Enterprise architect
- Enhancement of the infrastructure of Edition 2 by developing the various
types of validations like consistency validation, duplication validation and IP
validation, all over and above the basic schema validation
- Enhancement of the InstallShield setup file to detect and install the ICD
library common to both the SFT2841 and CET850 applications
Intern @ National Instruments
October 2008 – March 2009 (6 months)
As a team of three together with a mentor, I worked on the design and development
of a C# application with C++ libraries for a project on Research and Prototyping 2D
and 3D visualization of motion paths for DC motors to enable users to view the
various trajectories like Contour, Camming and CAD moves of the DC motor
controlled objects for a given set of control points with move constraints like pvt
[position, velocity and time]), dimension and move constraints like maximum
velocity, acceleration, deceleration and jerk (rate of change of acceleration). The
trajectories are shown using Microsoft Chart controls and NI Measurement Studio
Scatter graph to enable the user to view the trajectory.
INITIATIVES:-
Setting up of Jenkins platform for Continuous Integration
Automated the project release by setting up Jenkins platform using MSBuild
2
3. project files to build the VS solution files and run the InstallShield scripts in
order to create a release folder with the final setup. The Jenkins projects thus
built can be executed only by authorized users.
Automation of product setup
Automated the product setup creation using VB script to obtain the required
files and create the setup folder at the required location.
Creation of website with user data
Created a website using ASP.NET and MySQL in order to store basic user
information in the database and use the same to log-in the user. While doing
so, threats like SQL injection was taken care of.
ACADEMICAL PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN:-
A simple Lexical analyzer in C in the Linux environment to generate tokens
for the parser.
A 2D Graphics editor in C in MS-DOS with the basic transformations on 2D
objects.
A LL(1) parser in Visual C# on Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 .NET platform to
detect if a given grammar is LL(1) producing the firsts and follows of the non-
terminals together with the predictive parsing table with no multiply-defined
entries. Also a string can be checked if it belongs to the grammar with the
help of this predictive parsing program.
ACHIEVEMENTS:-
Bagged “Pat On the Back” award for the quick and efficient release of IED
Configurator tool in 2013
Played in the State Level Volleyball championship held in the academic
year 2000-2001 at Haveri
Secured first place in the exam conducted by Bharath Sanskruthi Prathishtan
on "An Introduction to Indian culture - the great Epic, Ramayana"
