Sources of Noise Pollution

cleaner, washing machine and dryer, cooler, air
conditioners, can be very noisy and injurious to
health.
ā¢ Others include loud speakers of sound systems
and TVs, iPod etc.

ā¢ In many industries it is a requirement that people always wear
earplugs to minimize their exposure to heavy noise.
ā¢ People who work with noisy equipment's are required to wear noise-
proof gadgets..
Commercial & Industrial Activities

11. ā¢ Airplanes flying over houses
close to busy airports.
ā¢ Over ground and under ground
trains, vehicles on roads, these
are constantly making a lot of
noise.
Transportation
12. ā¢ Noise pollution has become a significant problem in
Bangladesh, especially in all the divisional headquarters where
sound levels are far beyond the acceptable sound level for the
human ear, according to a recent study by the department of
environment (doe).
ā¢ In Dhaka, the average sound level is 80-110db in prime areas
such as Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, Gabtoli and
Mohakhali bus terminal, says the study report. This is almost
twice the maximum noise level that can be tolerated by humans
ā 60db ā without suffering a gradual loss of hearing, according
to the world health organization (WHO).

UNBORN BABIES
After the age of 27 to 30 weeks a fetus ears
formed fully. Unexpected loud sounds now
become a potential stimulus for a fetus and
may result in an automatic startle reflex.
It Causes :
ļ Display abnormal mental behavior
ļ Develop slow learning skills
ļ Have higher levels of cortisol during
weaning
21. ā¢ Noise pollution damages the nervous system
of animal.
ā¢ Increase of death of animals
ā¢ Animal looses the control of itās mind.
ā¢ Creates problems in their use of sounds in
reproduction and navigation.
ā¢ They becomes dangerous and attacking.
EffectsOn animals
22. ā¢ Noise pollution from ship engines and
sonar systems make it difficult for
marine mammals like whales &
dolphins, & prevent it from
communicating, finding food, and
avoiding hazards. Excessive noise has
the ability to raise an animalās heartbeat
speed and even harms an animalās
metabolism.
