1. Different Types of Festivals
There are many different types of festivals. One of the festivals that
I looked at was music festivals. One of the main things that I noticed
was that the funding of all music festivals is similar, as they’re all
mostly expensive to fund, as there’s a lot of expensive equipment
needed. As well as that they also tend to have a wide range of target
audience, as music festivals, have a wide range of different artists
playing, which do fulfil the type of music that the different age groups
like to listen to. As for the content, this is also very similar, as there are
always artist’s performances that take place, and the only thing that
changes is the artist singing. Lastly, their aim is also the same
throughout all music festivals, and this is to raise money either for
charity, or purely for profit. So, overall all music festivals are very
similar indeed.
Another type of festival is film festivals. Unlike the music
festivals this doesn’t have as wide of a range for target
audiences. Mainly, the people they target are celebrities, as
they’re the ones who actually take part in the films. This is
completely different to music festivals as their target audience
has much more range. Their aim however is more towards
promoting films, and making money. This type of festival is
funded by companies like EU, as this festival is a much larger
project. This is pretty similar to music festivals, as they aren’t
funded themselves, due to the costs being too high.
As well as that another type of festival is Cultural Festivals. These
festivals are mainly purely funded by families themselves. This is
because they’re more about spending time with family and friends,
instead of going to a huge gathering. As for the content, this
depends entirely on the culture. So many of them could be going to
the church, mosque or even a gurdwara, depending on the culture
they follow. After doing their religious things, the rest is again
planned completely by the family. Moreover, the target audience is
anyone in the certain religion, as it is a religious festival, so the
people who are that religion, celebrate it. The aim of these types of
festivals is to celebrate a certain religious thing in a religion e.g.
end of Ramadan- Eid.
2. The last type of festival would be seasonal festivals. These
festivals are about celebrating nature. As far as the
programme content is concerned it would vary from the
different nature that they’re representing. The target
audience for these types of festivals are mainly adults, as
they’re the ones who actually have interest in nature, and
they fit in well with the whole concept of these festivals.
Finally, they are mostly funded by the government. The
reason for this is because they’re not able to pay for all the
expenses, and they do tend to donate money to charities
too.
Overall, all the types of festivals are very different, as they intend to do something
completely different to each other. Also, they target different people, as their topics vary.
They also have different things going on, and this is so that they can adapt their
activities/events to their target audience. Lastly, they are all funded in many different ways,
and this again depends on their initial aim of the whole festival.
