Word from Author:
An important part of my education was to understand how Form can be
manipulated, starting from a basic Grid that can contain information
about the whole process. Form manipulation is accompanied
by understanding various Modern and Contemporary theories in
Architecture, which are translated literally or poetically through the
manipulated form. Therefore, Form acquires traces of Architectural
Knowledge.
The word Locus followed me throughout my studies. A Locus generally
means Location or Place (if understood from the known Latin term
“Genius Loci”). Precisely, a Locus is “a set of points whose location
is determined by stated conditions” - Merriam Webster 1828. My
interpretation of the term Locus is more artistic, and can be simply
represented by a grid (a set of points joined by lines), and manipulated
by certain conditions (such as site forces or design principles). It is not a
Traditional 2D grid anymore, rather it can occur in any given dimension.
After the grid is manipulated by imposed forces, it attains a spirit
unique to its place and function. The process of manipulation can be
fun and challenging, like a puzzle. Architecture becomes the Muse.

The goal is to create a self-sustaining facilitated micro community
by adapting and rehabilitating an existing and abandoned high rise
complex in Amman. Such Rehabilitation enables living and working
interdependently for the local entrepreneurs and residents, thus
creates an environment resilient to crisis that is able to regenerate
itself and the urban context.
The Engine was worked in collaboration with Marah Altarawneh.
I have worked on the 3D documentation of the existing structure
based on working drawings. I was responsible for the proposed facade
treatment, finishes and interior atria with their corresponding bridges.
Finally, I was in charge of the Landscaping of the overall project, taking
into consideration the correct type of local plants.

Original structure revealed lack of relationship
between the high rises; they rise abruptly
above the ground without any consideration
to the context. The new design offers a stronger
relationship between the three structures. It allows
for continuous spaces and circulation. The high
rises descend with the aid of terraces to reach the
ground and human scale.
A continuous flow of movement is created by
superimposing two circulation ribbons, that wrap
around the high rises, intersect near each core, and
link all major entrances to the project. The ribbons
are translated in every floor to maintain vertical
continuity. The Circulation Ribbon is articulated
to allow an overlay of various paths, landscaping,
and seating areas. There is always a celebration
in the centre, a place where everything converges.
The proposed regeneration
focuses on gradually connecting
the High rises to the ground,
meanwhile maintaining strong
connection in-between which
originally was missing. Atria were
introduced to maximize Daylight
and ventilation for indoor
spaces.
Landscaping is introduced
throughout the various terraces
to create the Urban Park and
Gardens. Sun Breakers are
introduced to control daylight
and provide comfortable indoor
environment. Permeable facade
allows fresh air inside.

The Voids allow for sunlight and greenery to flood inside. Event spaces
open up to each other, and become more vivid around the voids. Yet
these spaces stay connected by the circulation ribbon and bridges
accompanied with interior Landscapes. Entrances and nodes become
an important part of the podium’s language, welcoming the influx of
visitors to its various events.

The SkyHive and the SkyHaven work in harmony
through the concepts of Working and Living.
Linked via The Engine, which celebrates the
gathering of these two shifted and fragmented
masses, becomes a public park that hosts urban
farming and markets, opening up to the wounded
neighbourhood.
10 11
The Hive and the Haven are in constant dialogue, both are fragmented
by forces from the context taking over and articulated through
common event spaces. They are contrasted by the process of taking
over: One fragments regularly and formally for Working, The other
fragments organically and expressively for Living.
The design of each High rise was undertaken independently. I have
worked on the SkyHive, meanwhile Marah Altarawneh worked on the
SkyHaven. It was crucial to maintain harmony in the design proposal,
at the same time create two unique approaches to problem, and
achieve one holistic goal. The SkyHive is discussed in this section.

SkyHive by Nawras AlMasri
SkyHaven by Marah Altarawneh
The SkyHive is regularly fragmented to create continuous Vertical
Green Voids throughout the whole structure. It introduces outdoor
activity spaces seamlessly connected both vertically and horizontally.
Voids are accompanied by Districts which host main facilities of the Co-
Working environment, with double and triple volume spaces filled with
daylight and connected vertically through Auditoriums. The Existing
column structure was maintained as a trace of the past, and acts as
the connective tissue that stitches the floating districts together.

12 13
The aim of the SkyHive is to adapt the North tower
to create facilitated working districts for different
professions, meanwhile are connected by common
open spaces, workspace services, and buffer
zones. This reintroduces the sense of Co-Working,
where individuals can express themselves and stay
engaged. The SkyHive is sculpted from human
desire for communication and interaction within
Nature and Community.
The SkyHaven creates a unified neighbourhood
with plentiful public spaces for its residents, where
communities become the backbone in times of
crisis. In the SkyHaven, residents gather, rest, and
socialize. The masses of the Haven shift vertically
up, revealing the spaces within that would later
serve as the green pockets.
Although traces of original structure is still
apparent, it is manipulated in such a way that
makes it breath, letting sunlight and wind breezes
throughout the whole project.

The next step is to rethink the box houses as platforms of social and
cultural activities. Amman is therefore a cluster of interactive social
platforms spread around its mountains.
The radial grid breaks through the site, respecting the Heritage site,
and creates new platforms connected by an unobstructed route that
moves throughout the land and its different subterranean levels.
Design strategies: Radial Array Grid, Intersections as Event spaces and respecting existing Heritage site.
Ground Floor Plan (Top) and Basement Floor Plan (Right).
This project is located in a vibrant neighbourhood in Downtown
Amman, which hosts several important houses of affluent political
figures, most of which are currently re-used as Art Galleries and NGO
headquarters.
Within the site sits an abandoned antique of the 1920s, the Ghurayeb
House, and a monolithic Elementary School built in the 1970s. Both
existing structures provide great opportunities to revive the area.
The aim of this project is to attract tourists and the local community
by creating an interactive Hub, which includes a Boutique Hotel,
Subterranean Spa, and local Narrative Museum. Buffer zones, event
spaces and gardens with local vegetation spread all over the site.
The process begins by understanding Downtown Amman. The
mountain breaks the rigid grid of existing houses radially around its
parameter, creating an array of matchbox houses that overlook the
adjacent mountains.

Buffer zones are imposed, creating intimate and
social spaces within the spa, museum, and hotel.
These buffer zones are open to the sky, shaded by
trees and flooded with showers of light from the
perforated roofs.
The result is a series of interactive social spaces,
which enable unobstructed movement towards
the various facilities and event spaces open to all
views of downtown Amman.
The facilities of the proposed site, unlike in its
previous state, are stitched together into one fabric
that maintains dialogue within the neighbourhood.

Spaces interact with each other and scatter across the Garden
and Creek to create distinct connections to Nature. At the same
time, the Southern segment maintains required level of privacy
determined by its function, while the Northern segment is more
open to visitors.

Temple of Tranquillity is a place to relax the soul and practice
the muses. The project is sculpted by natural forces, to create
a place that is tied to the land and the past. The shifting of
the topography creates gardens and the Creek. Meanwhile, the
eruption of the past and present soil creates platforms directed
towards the sky and horizon. This library seeks to preserve the
ties between man and nature.
The project is divided into two segments, the Northern which
hosts exhibition spaces and the viewing platforms, and the
Southern which hosts the Research Centre with working areas
and an Auditorium. The two segments are connected by bridges
on the upper and lower levels and divided by the Creek and
gardens. The levels host outdoor event spaces open to all views
of Ajloun Forest Reserve.

The aim of this project is to re-brand a well known Trademark and
design a new mix-use/experience centre that will enrich the overall
experience of customers. I have chosen the Michelin Guide, due to
personal interest in the culinary arts. My aim was to introduce a new
concept for Dine-In experience by integrating Urban Gardens. These
Gardens act as a hub for food lovers and green building enthusiasts.
The concept of an urban garden merged with quality ingredient
restaurants and a marketplace in Mecca street, a well known and
busy highway in Amman which hosts several high quality restaurants,
enhances customer experience, where they pick and chose their own
ingredients from indoor Farms and deliver it to the “Cuisine Pavilions”.

The Museum and Cultural Centre helps the local community express
themselves through arts. Artworks are displayed through a series of
spaces with distinct atmospheres. The project starts with Growth, which
shows local artwork from starting artists. The spaces move towards
conflict, with series of Labyrinth like dimmed spaces. The climax of the
project is reached in the breakthrough and embrace spaces. Light
pierces through Mashrabiya, or Sun Breakers, to guide and tell a story.
The Central light chimney acts as an exhibit of contemplation.

The tessellation starts by dividing the boundary box, separating
public realm from private realm. The masses are divided along
pulling forces imposed by the context. The masses scale down
proportionally with the size of the neighbourhood, making the
high rise more humble and welcoming at human scale. The
masses also shift sideways to allow for more green areas and an
easier circulation upwards.
The higher the masses reach, the smaller the surface area
becomes. Therefore, the masses are pulled upwards to
accommodate for more floor area.

The aim of this project is to design a parametric High rise that gradually
steps down and opens up to the human scale, while maintaining
dialogue with the existing unique Frankfurt Skyline.
Thevisitorsaretakenonajourneyalongacontinuousandunobstructed
flow through Urban Gardens and Community spaces within the public
realm. The program is utilized in a vertical city manner and revitalises
the neighbourhood with a new vertical cultural hub and Urban Garden.
The private realm acts as a retreat from the busy public realm. It hosts
working spaces at the lower zone and residential quarters at the upper
zone. The Datum concludes with a panoramic viewing platform at the
upper most levels.
I was responsible for the Core design, determined by the strict High
rise safety laws of Germany, and building multiple prototypes to test
best fragmentation variant that suits the Core design. I have also been
responsible for the full documentation of detailed working drawings,
and translating the parametric variants into practical plans.

The Intersection of masses provides interesting
interior circulation. Instead of keeping the
intersection solely as an exterior concept, it would
be allowed to appear inside. However, this might
cause problems with the circulation indoors,
therefore parametric definitions were used as a
solution.
Using parametric definitions to spread the
grid around the unique intersection points of
superimposed masses, the grid spreads to create
a variety of voids connected together by thin
threads. The force and the count of the grid is
varied. After choosing the best fit variant, voids
are translated into atria and connective threads
are translated into bridges and pathways.
The same method was applied vertically via the
section. The best fit variant abides by the boundary
of the existing skin, were voids are translated into
atria and threads into stairs and open auditoriums.
In special cases, the voids appear behind the
façade, where slabs are pushed inside and a
double skin is introduced with buffer zones and
indoor gardens.

The façade was created via point attractor
definition to articulate the intangible forces into
tangible mass. The facade is tessellated according
to solar exposure.
The gardens continue to spread throughout the
public part of the high rise on the east façade
and wrap around cores. There is plenty of sunlight
exposure in the active side of the high rise which
hosts the adventure centres and experience
centres. They have direct access to the outdoor
gardens. The library, exhibition areas and the
auditorium are located towards the north façade
for a comfortable working environment.
Rather than controlling the outcome, parametric
rules were an aid to this project. With that In mind,
The Datum is sculpted from intangible forces to
create a tangible sculpture which becomes part
of Frankfurt Skyline.

Collaboration Project during an Internship under Bernhardt + Partner
Architekten. An important aspect was to preserve the integrity of the
existing buildings and create an extension that is respectful to the
spirit of place. The Existing structures include the Barn located South,
Stables located East, and Residential quarters located North.
The work focused on adaptive re-use of the barn to accommodate
a Theatre and an Artefact Gallery. Moreover, a new extension was
introduced on the western side (previously demolished warehouse).
The extension proportionally imitates the original structure. The
extension will host office spaces, exhibition spaces and Artefact
storages. The courtyard is restored as well to serve as a Garden with a
pond. This creates higher biodiversity which is an important approach
to sustainability in Germany.
My contribution was the full documentation of the old barn, and the
proposal of the theatre and museum located inside. I have also created
the working drawings and presented proposals for the Elevation.

revealing the local stone found in the area. At the same time, a modern
touch was achieved by articulating the mass held by load bearing
walls of Porto Heli stone. The upper intimate spaces seem like they are
floating, while the lower spaces are “down to earth” and interact with
the outdoor garden and pool.
My contribution in the project was preparing the working drawings and
directly updating them based on client need. I have also worked on
the spatial organization to achieve the required criteria under limited

Pencil Collage of a Victorian chair
The English Aquarelle technique supported with hints of China Ink,
creates remarkable atmospheres enriched by depth and tone.
Another level is introduced by using Watercolour Markers and pencils
to achieve certain effects such as lighting, accents, and textures. The
result is a multitude of various layers of tones, shades and shadows,
superimposed together, to create the desired scene.
In the Aquarelle of the Fallingwater House by Frank Lloyd Wright, I have
put emphasis on the play of light that occurs during Night time. Light
coming out of the house would blend below the clean cut cantilevers,
meanwhile the moonlight would reflect on the cantilever surface and
the waterfall running beneath the house.
The other project illustrates a house in the middle of a forest during
cold winters, with a humble landscape and a perfectly still pond that
reflects it. I have portrayed this atmosphere by using a colder blue
colour toned down by China Ink, and added a rustic touch to the
landscape with strikes of watercolour Markers.

Form manipulation is accompanied by understanding various Modern and Contemporary theories in Architecture, which are translated literally or poetically through the manipulated form. Therefore, Form acquires traces of Architectural Knowledge. The word Locus followed me throughout my studies. A Locus generally means Location or Place (if understood from the known Latin term “Genius Loci”). Precisely, a Locus is “a set of points whose location is determined by stated conditions” - Merriam Webster 1828. My interpretation of the term Locus is more artistic, and can be simply represented by a grid (a set of points joined by lines), and manipulated by certain conditions (such as site forces or design principles). It is not a Traditional 2D grid anymore, rather it can occur in any given dimension. After the grid is manipulated by imposed forces, it attains a spirit unique to its place and function. The process of manipulation can be fun and challenging, like a puzzle. Architecture becomes the Muse. • 3. 5 4 The goal is to create a self-sustaining facilitated micro community by adapting and rehabilitating an existing and abandoned high rise complex in Amman. Such Rehabilitation enables living and working interdependently for the local entrepreneurs and residents, thus creates an environment resilient to crisis that is able to regenerate itself and the urban context. The Engine was worked in collaboration with Marah Altarawneh. I have worked on the 3D documentation of the existing structure based on working drawings. I was responsible for the proposed facade treatment, finishes and interior atria with their corresponding bridges. Finally, I was in charge of the Landscaping of the overall project, taking into consideration the correct type of local plants. • 4. 6 7 Original structure revealed lack of relationship between the high rises; they rise abruptly above the ground without any consideration to the context. The new design offers a stronger relationship between the three structures. It allows for continuous spaces and circulation. The high rises descend with the aid of terraces to reach the ground and human scale. A continuous flow of movement is created by superimposing two circulation ribbons, that wrap around the high rises, intersect near each core, and link all major entrances to the project. The ribbons are translated in every floor to maintain vertical continuity. The Circulation Ribbon is articulated to allow an overlay of various paths, landscaping, and seating areas. There is always a celebration in the centre, a place where everything converges. The proposed regeneration focuses on gradually connecting the High rises to the ground, meanwhile maintaining strong connection in-between which originally was missing. Atria were introduced to maximize Daylight and ventilation for indoor spaces. Landscaping is introduced throughout the various terraces to create the Urban Park and Gardens. Sun Breakers are introduced to control daylight and provide comfortable indoor environment. Permeable facade allows fresh air inside. Scene from Engine Central Courtyard. • 5. 8 9 The Voids allow for sunlight and greenery to flood inside. Event spaces open up to each other, and become more vivid around the voids. Yet these spaces stay connected by the circulation ribbon and bridges accompanied with interior Landscapes. Entrances and nodes become an important part of the podium’s language, welcoming the influx of visitors to its various events. SkyHive, SkyHaven & The Engine South Elevation (Top) and Ground Plan. The Engine third, fourth and Roof plans showing Voids and Landscapes. The SkyHive and the SkyHaven work in harmony through the concepts of Working and Living. Linked via The Engine, which celebrates the gathering of these two shifted and fragmented masses, becomes a public park that hosts urban farming and markets, opening up to the wounded neighbourhood.
  • 6. 10 11 The Hive and the Haven are in constant dialogue, both are fragmented by forces from the context taking over and articulated through common event spaces. They are contrasted by the process of taking over: One fragments regularly and formally for Working, The other fragments organically and expressively for Living. The design of each High rise was undertaken independently. I have worked on the SkyHive, meanwhile Marah Altarawneh worked on the SkyHaven. It was crucial to maintain harmony in the design proposal, at the same time create two unique approaches to problem, and achieve one holistic goal. The SkyHive is discussed in this section. SKYHIVE & SKYHAVEN Adaptive Re-Use & Rehabilitation of High Rises ARCH591/592 Graduation Project 2020/2021 Exhibition of Individual Work SkyHive by Nawras AlMasri SkyHaven by Marah Altarawneh The SkyHive is regularly fragmented to create continuous Vertical Green Voids throughout the whole structure. It introduces outdoor activity spaces seamlessly connected both vertically and horizontally. Voids are accompanied by Districts which host main facilities of the Co- Working environment, with double and triple volume spaces filled with daylight and connected vertically through Auditoriums. The Existing column structure was maintained as a trace of the past, and acts as the connective tissue that stitches the floating districts together. SkyHive Typical Vertical Green Void spaces. • 7. 12 13 The aim of the SkyHive is to adapt the North tower to create facilitated working districts for different professions, meanwhile are connected by common open spaces, workspace services, and buffer zones. This reintroduces the sense of Co-Working, where individuals can express themselves and stay engaged. The SkyHive is sculpted from human desire for communication and interaction within Nature and Community. The SkyHaven creates a unified neighbourhood with plentiful public spaces for its residents, where communities become the backbone in times of crisis. In the SkyHaven, residents gather, rest, and socialize. The masses of the Haven shift vertically up, revealing the spaces within that would later serve as the green pockets. Although traces of original structure is still apparent, it is manipulated in such a way that makes it breath, letting sunlight and wind breezes throughout the whole project. • 8. 14 15 The next step is to rethink the box houses as platforms of social and cultural activities. Amman is therefore a cluster of interactive social platforms spread around its mountains. The radial grid breaks through the site, respecting the Heritage site, and creates new platforms connected by an unobstructed route that moves throughout the land and its different subterranean levels. Design strategies: Radial Array Grid, Intersections as Event spaces and respecting existing Heritage site. Ground Floor Plan (Top) and Basement Floor Plan (Right). This project is located in a vibrant neighbourhood in Downtown Amman, which hosts several important houses of affluent political figures, most of which are currently re-used as Art Galleries and NGO headquarters. Within the site sits an abandoned antique of the 1920s, the Ghurayeb House, and a monolithic Elementary School built in the 1970s. Both existing structures provide great opportunities to revive the area. The aim of this project is to attract tourists and the local community by creating an interactive Hub, which includes a Boutique Hotel, Subterranean Spa, and local Narrative Museum. Buffer zones, event spaces and gardens with local vegetation spread all over the site. The process begins by understanding Downtown Amman. The mountain breaks the rigid grid of existing houses radially around its parameter, creating an array of matchbox houses that overlook the adjacent mountains. • 9. 16 17 Buffer zones are imposed, creating intimate and social spaces within the spa, museum, and hotel. These buffer zones are open to the sky, shaded by trees and flooded with showers of light from the perforated roofs. The result is a series of interactive social spaces, which enable unobstructed movement towards the various facilities and event spaces open to all views of downtown Amman. The facilities of the proposed site, unlike in its previous state, are stitched together into one fabric that maintains dialogue within the neighbourhood. Scene from Spa Terrace. • 10. 18 19 Spaces interact with each other and scatter across the Garden and Creek to create distinct connections to Nature. At the same time, the Southern segment maintains required level of privacy determined by its function, while the Northern segment is more open to visitors. Axonometric Diagram, showing shifting Roof Plates and the Creek. Ground Floor Plan showing River, Bridges and Interior Spaces, along with Site Plan (Top). Temple of Tranquillity is a place to relax the soul and practice the muses. The project is sculpted by natural forces, to create a place that is tied to the land and the past. The shifting of the topography creates gardens and the Creek. Meanwhile, the eruption of the past and present soil creates platforms directed towards the sky and horizon. This library seeks to preserve the ties between man and nature. The project is divided into two segments, the Northern which hosts exhibition spaces and the viewing platforms, and the Southern which hosts the Research Centre with working areas and an Auditorium. The two segments are connected by bridges on the upper and lower levels and divided by the Creek and gardens. The levels host outdoor event spaces open to all views of Ajloun Forest Reserve. The aim of this project is to re-brand a well known Trademark and design a new mix-use/experience centre that will enrich the overall experience of customers. I have chosen the Michelin Guide, due to personal interest in the culinary arts. My aim was to introduce a new concept for Dine-In experience by integrating Urban Gardens. These Gardens act as a hub for food lovers and green building enthusiasts. The concept of an urban garden merged with quality ingredient restaurants and a marketplace in Mecca street, a well known and busy highway in Amman which hosts several high quality restaurants, enhances customer experience, where they pick and chose their own ingredients from indoor Farms and deliver it to the “Cuisine Pavilions”. • 14. 26 27 The tessellation starts by dividing the boundary box, separating public realm from private realm. The masses are divided along pulling forces imposed by the context. The masses scale down proportionally with the size of the neighbourhood, making the high rise more humble and welcoming at human scale. The masses also shift sideways to allow for more green areas and an easier circulation upwards. The higher the masses reach, the smaller the surface area becomes. Therefore, the masses are pulled upwards to accommodate for more floor area. The Datum Mass Fragmentation and Scale Down. Major force from Skyline and Train station influx. Scale down of pulled masses to reach Human scale. Pull from Skyline, Main river and Human scale. Vertical Gardens connected to Urban realm. The aim of this project is to design a parametric High rise that gradually steps down and opens up to the human scale, while maintaining dialogue with the existing unique Frankfurt Skyline. Thevisitorsaretakenonajourneyalongacontinuousandunobstructed flow through Urban Gardens and Community spaces within the public realm. The program is utilized in a vertical city manner and revitalises the neighbourhood with a new vertical cultural hub and Urban Garden. The private realm acts as a retreat from the busy public realm. It hosts working spaces at the lower zone and residential quarters at the upper zone. The Datum concludes with a panoramic viewing platform at the upper most levels. I was responsible for the Core design, determined by the strict High rise safety laws of Germany, and building multiple prototypes to test best fragmentation variant that suits the Core design. I have also been responsible for the full documentation of detailed working drawings, and translating the parametric variants into practical plans. • 15. 28 29 The Intersection of masses provides interesting interior circulation. Instead of keeping the intersection solely as an exterior concept, it would be allowed to appear inside. However, this might cause problems with the circulation indoors, therefore parametric definitions were used as a solution. Using parametric definitions to spread the grid around the unique intersection points of superimposed masses, the grid spreads to create a variety of voids connected together by thin threads. The force and the count of the grid is varied. After choosing the best fit variant, voids are translated into atria and connective threads are translated into bridges and pathways. The same method was applied vertically via the section. The best fit variant abides by the boundary of the existing skin, were voids are translated into atria and threads into stairs and open auditoriums. In special cases, the voids appear behind the façade, where slabs are pushed inside and a double skin is introduced with buffer zones and indoor gardens. Parametric Vertical Grid Spreading (Left). Sections of Residential Spaces.
  • 16. 30 31 The façade was created via point attractor definition to articulate the intangible forces into tangible mass. The facade is tessellated according to solar exposure. The gardens continue to spread throughout the public part of the high rise on the east façade and wrap around cores. There is plenty of sunlight exposure in the active side of the high rise which hosts the adventure centres and experience centres. They have direct access to the outdoor gardens. The library, exhibition areas and the auditorium are located towards the north façade for a comfortable working environment. Rather than controlling the outcome, parametric rules were an aid to this project. With that In mind, The Datum is sculpted from intangible forces to create a tangible sculpture which becomes part of Frankfurt Skyline. The lower public realm is fragmented, horizontally oriented and designed “down to earth”. The middle segment of the fragmented masses are narrow andlongtoaccommodatehigher floor area. Section through proposed Extension showing interior Gallery spaces and double volumes. Collaboration Project during an Internship under Bernhardt + Partner Architekten. An important aspect was to preserve the integrity of the existing buildings and create an extension that is respectful to the spirit of place. The Existing structures include the Barn located South, Stables located East, and Residential quarters located North. The work focused on adaptive re-use of the barn to accommodate a Theatre and an Artefact Gallery. Moreover, a new extension was introduced on the western side (previously demolished warehouse). The extension proportionally imitates the original structure. The extension will host office spaces, exhibition spaces and Artefact storages. The courtyard is restored as well to serve as a Garden with a pond. This creates higher biodiversity which is an important approach to sustainability in Germany. My contribution was the full documentation of the old barn, and the proposal of the theatre and museum located inside. I have also created the working drawings and presented proposals for the Elevation. West Elevation showing the Main Entrance. North Elevation showing Outdoor Spaces. Collaboration project during summer internship at Raed Al Naber Architects. The main idea is to express the context of Porto Heli by revealing the local stone found in the area. At the same time, a modern touch was achieved by articulating the mass held by load bearing walls of Porto Heli stone. The upper intimate spaces seem like they are floating, while the lower spaces are “down to earth” and interact with the outdoor garden and pool. China Ink Aquarelle of Nabataean Capital in Petra Palace Tomb. Aquarelle of 53 West 53 by Jean Nouvel. Pencil Collage of a Victorian chair The English Aquarelle technique supported with hints of China Ink, creates remarkable atmospheres enriched by depth and tone. Another level is introduced by using Watercolour Markers and pencils to achieve certain effects such as lighting, accents, and textures. The result is a multitude of various layers of tones, shades and shadows, superimposed together, to create the desired scene. In the Aquarelle of the Fallingwater House by Frank Lloyd Wright, I have put emphasis on the play of light that occurs during Night time. Light coming out of the house would blend below the clean cut cantilevers, meanwhile the moonlight would reflect on the cantilever surface and the waterfall running beneath the house. The other project illustrates a house in the middle of a forest during cold winters, with a humble landscape and a perfectly still pond that reflects it. I have portrayed this atmosphere by using a colder blue colour toned down by China Ink, and added a rustic touch to the landscape with strikes of watercolour Markers.
