To whom it may concern
This is to certify that Mr. H. S. Navin Kumar completed his internship in the department of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida under my supervision from June
to November, 2014.
I assigned him a project on Scheduling in Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks—a topic that was new to
him. Navin jumped onto finding the necessary materials on Graph Theory, Algorithms, and Wireless
Networks to acquire the necessary background. By the end of the first month, he was ready to initiate his
own research.
He investigated how secondary users in a dynamic spectrum access network can be scheduled based on
the interference which was modelled using the conflict graph. Using a graph coloring technique, he
proposed a scheduling scheme which improved the throughput of the network. The key idea was to
allocate more than one channel as long as they were non-conflicting. Simulation results showed improved
network performance in terms if increased throughput and better spectrum utilization. The results were
submitted to the 4th
International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and
Informatics (ICACCI) 2015 for possible publication— the outcome of which is still pending.
Throughout his stay at UCF, Navin interacted with other students in a very professional manner. He was
regular on his deliverables. Overall, I was extremely pleased with his work and her professionalism. I am
sure he would be an asset to any team.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.
