The target audience for the magazine is males aged 16-30, as this demographic listens to and buys the most R&B and rap music magazines. Focus groups with this demographic were used to ensure the magazine appealed to their interests. While primarily targeting this group, the magazine content would still appeal to a wider audience outside this age range. The magazine aims to be affordable for all socioeconomic classes to spread interest in the music genre. Imagery, layout, urban slang, bold text and red/black/white color scheme are used to match conventions of similar magazines and connect readers to artists through a sense of relatability and mystery.

2. The target audience for my magazine is males from the ages of 16-30.
This is because the main demographic for Rnb/rap magazines is that .
This enables me to already have an existing target audience instead of
having to establish one. The reasons for this demographic is that
males from those ages tend to be more into that genre and are more
likely to want to know more about it thus buying the magazine. I used
my focus group which included people in this demographic to ensure
what I was doing was to their (the audiences) liking.
The magazine however would still appeal to this outside of the
focused audience because there are females and males outside if my
target audience that this would still appeal to. I decided to target my
specific audience as this demographic had the highest market share
and would therefore mean the magazine would make more money as
there is a larger number of people to sell to. Also my music interest is
taken into account so it made it easier for me to create as I was peat of
the audience.

3. I have no specific class range for my magazine as this
genre of music appeals to all class systems. In regards
to pricing it is affordable for those in the lower class,
the idea is to spread the word and to help those who
are interested in this genre learn more and become
more involved in the culture.
My nature of my audience a large one who love to
read behind the music and have a passion for keeping
up to date with current issues and news in the
industry. As my aimed demographic is the biggest
within the music industry it would be the most
effective to market my magazine to. This is because it
is the hegemonic norm. To widen my demographic
and appeal to more people the magazine would focus
on bringing up underground artists to appeal to that
niche too.

4. To ensure that I was going about making this magazine the correct way I
had to do extensive research and also asked my focus group for feedback
about my project. Within my research of magazines targeted to the same
sort of people I found the codes and conventions which included the
Imagery, layout of the page, the use of urban slang to create a more
personal connection with the reader, the use of bold text and the
red/black/white colour scheme.
The mise en scene of my magazine was kept in line with the codes and
conventions of this genre of magazines. This satisfies uses and
gratifications theory by engaging the audience and creating personal
connections between them and the music artists. The main USP of the
rnb/rap genres is that the audience become connected with the artists as
they feel like they can relate to them. The audience aspire to be like the
artists and live the way they do. This is why with the mise en scene I tried
to keep it as humble as possible whilst adding the edge from that genre to
attract a larger audience.

5. I made the images eye catching and mysterious in my
magazine. My font cover includes the feature artist
looking directly into the camera making them from a
connection with the audience (Direct mode of
address) the audience would admire the model and
want to find out more about them. Most of my text on
the front cover is bold and has a drop shadow to
make it stand out and be bold so is catches the
audiences eye.
In my contents and double page spread the artist is
looking away from the camera possibly creating a
mysterious aura around them. The mystery is then
solved after the audience read about the artist in the
text which is where the connection is developed
further.
