1. It is my sincere pleasure and honor to write a letter of recommendation for
Natalia Marie Molinatti. I had the pleasure of being Natalia’s teacher for Honors
Physics during her junior year at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. This year I
accepted a position at Huntington Beach High School, but I wanted to have the honor of
writing Natalia’s Letter of Recommendation, because I know her exceptionally well as a
student inside the classroom, and can testify for her moral character outside the
classroom. Natalia has maintained a weighted grade point average of 4.6, while being a
International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Candidate, committed athlete, dedicated
volunteer, and a leader in our high school’s Model United Nations program. Natalia’s
academic abilities place her within the top 1% I have witnessed throughout my career. I
believe that Natalia Molinatti would be an extremely valuable addition to any academic
institution, and I give her my absolute strongest possible recommendation, without any
hesitations.
In class, Natalia demonstrates her natural aptitude for physics and strong desire to
acquire knowledge at a level well beyond that of her peers. During the course, Natalia
was exceptionally focused, and helpful. Natalia was my calculator, and every time I
solved a problem on the board I could turn to her and she would already be punching
away the numbers into her calculator. It’s the little things like this that I will always
remember. She was not only paying close attention, but was always engaged in the
material and being helpful to me, so that I could focus on answering questions and being
a better teacher. Natalia will improve a classroom’s dynamics with her presence. Natalia
is a very curious student, always wanting to know “why” things are the way they are. She
is never satisfied with having a shallow understanding of concepts or simply memorizing
formulas to get a high grade; rather, she would constantly come in after school to explore
the depths of every topic that I teach and enhance her knowledge – from kinematics to
electricity. Natalia is always enthusiastic about discovering the boundaries of her
abilities.
Although Natalia is extremely talented in physics, she wishes to pursue medicine
and become a surgeon. It has been her lifelong dream to become a surgeon after watching
“Doctor Shows” on television, and the dream was solidified after completing her first
Medical Program at UCI. Judging from her conduct in my physics classroom, I can state
with confidence that Natalia will be extraordinarily successful in any field that she
decides to pursue. In addition to her outstanding academic achievement, Natalia
demonstrates a concern for the collective learning environment and for her peers. She is a
leader in her class, volunteering to peer tutor or set up lab equipment. Her exemplary
character extends to her pursuit of knowledge and to the integrity that she consistently
demonstrates.
Natalia takes ownership of her passions, and has already completed a Summer
Surgery Program at the UCI School of Medicine, and is currently the only high school
student working year-round at the medical research laboratory at Beckman Laser
Institute. This type of independent motivation in achieving long-term goals, and selecting
a plan with which to accomplish the goals, is a characteristic that will not only benefit
2. Natalia, but also enrich any learning community with which she associates. At the
Summer Institute she received the Valedictorian Award and was chosen to return the
following summer as a mentor to high school students going through the program.
Her leadership abilities are not only prevalent in the field of science but in the
athletics as well. She is currently captain of the golf team, and manger of the boys varsity
football team. This position has never been filled by a student of Natalia’s caliber, but
because of Natalia’s exemplary leadership abilities Harry Welch has granted her the task.
The hours required are enormous as well with the responsibilities, but Natalia seems to
carry the stress of her busy schedule with ease and grace. She assists with travel plans for
the team, prepares and checks that the required equipment arrive with the team, checks
players grades with teachers and even provides tutoring for those players that need it.
Natalia is also a leader within our school’s Model United Nations program. Natalia is an
active part of the Santa Margarita Community. She has won numerous awards for her
vast contribution to the MUN program and has represented SMCHS in MUN debates all
over the United States and in foreign countries. These experiences have made her an
informed global citizen, and provided her with knowledge of foreign policy and strong
analytic skills. Natalia is a committed student but she is also very proud of SMCHS and
proves it in all that she does. She is the student that will dress up during spirit weeks, help
plan school dances, and attend athletic events. Her school spirit influences other students
and teachers so much so that one week, she brought me spirit wear to be sure that I was
as excited about dressing up as she was. Natalia is also a Student Ambassador and Link
Crew Leader where her passion for school involvement is shared with freshmen and
prospective students. Natalia is a major asset and outstanding representative of SMCHS
and will continue to be an asset to any college she attends.
Natalia was a cheerleader for my physics class and motivated her peers with her
optimism and bubbly personality to create a positive learning environment. Natalia is a
student that I am proud I was able to teach, and will continue to hear from as she leaves
the nest of SMCHS. Her academic curiosity is inspiring and I thoroughly enjoy Natalia’s
drive to learn more, inside the classroom and outside the classroom. She is a student of
impeccable character, and it is truly a gift to be her teacher. She exemplifies the type of
person who will enrich any campus environment—intellectually gifted, ambitious,
honest, empathetic, caring, and perseverant. Natalia Molinatti is an extraordinary young
woman with a bright future in science. I give Natalia Molinatti my absolute strongest
possible recommendation to be accepted into your university.
Sincerely,
Melissa Suzanne Taylor
