To ensure that you are still able to relax during this busy period, ensure you have
one room in your house that is untouched by building work. You essentially
want to create a home within your home, where you can have some space to
relax in the evenings to recharge for the next day!
Dust is a huge issue during renovation, so make full use of dust sheets and
masking tape over all your belongings.

Unnecessary costs are the next worst thing to unforeseen costs! It is super important that
everything is budgeted for and you know where you should be spending and where you
should be saving to really help finish your build.
TOP TIP: Always incorporate some wiggle room into your budget for unforeseen costs!
For example, if you are renovating an old home, big costs like replacing single glazed windows
with new uPVC windows and updating your doors is a good place to look to spend a little
extra. Your home will be more secure, thermally efficient and cost effective in the long run.
Furthermore, it will really add to that kerb appeal!

This article about surviving a renovation had me giggling but also made me very
aware of what to expect when my other half finally agrees to our extension!
