Human development is defined as the process of
enlarging people’s freedoms and opportunities and
improving their well being.Human development is about
the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who to
be,what to do and how to live. The human development
concept was developed by economists Mahbub Ul Haq.
3. Why we study Human Development
Human development refers to biological and
Psychological development of human being throughout
the lifespan .It consists of development from infancy,
childhood and adolescence to adulthood. The scientific
study of psychological human development is sometimes
known as developmental psychology.
4. Human Development Approach
These idea helped pave the way for the Human development – or the
human development approach – is about expanding the richness of
human life, rather than simply the richness of the economy in which
human beings live. It is an approach that is focused on people and their
opportunities and choices. So how do these idea come together in the
Human Development Approach?
People: the human development approach focuses on improving the
lives people lead rather than assuming that economic growth will lead,
automatically, to greater opportunities for all. Income growth is an
5. Opportunities: human development is about giving people more freedom
and opportunities to live lives they value. In effect this means developing
people’s abilities and giving them a chance to use them.
Choices: human development is, fundamentally, about more choice. It is
about providing people with opportunities, not insisting that they make use
of them. No one can guarantee human happiness, and the choices people
make are their own concern. The process of development – human
development – should at least create an environment for people,
individually and collectively, to develop to their full potential and to have
a reasonable chance of leading productive and creative lives that they

7. Human Sustainable Development
Definition
Sustainable development is the
idea that human societies must live
and meet their needs without
compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own
needs. … Specifically, sustainable
development is a way of
organizing society so that it can
exist in the long term.
Barrier to Human Sustainable
Development
Political barriers: Inadequate
economic, social and
environmental methods for
policies, plans and projects are the
major barrier combating the
implementation of sustainable
development.
11. Importantance of Human Development In term of
Living Condition In Different Countries
Human development is very important in terms of living conditions in
different countries. The statement “any society committed to
improving the lives of its people must also be committed to full and
equal rights for all” is true. The UN considers three factors to calculate
human development in a country. These factors cover many aspects of
a country, including social development in a country. Income,
education, and healthy living are considered to be the most important
factors in human development, which help to rid populations of
poverty, and support human rights.
14. Human Development Index
Human development is defined as the process of enlarging people’s freedoms
and opportunities and improving their well-being. Human development is
about the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who to be, what to do,
and how to live.
The Human Development Index was developed as an alternative to simple
money metrics. It is an easy-to-understand numerical measure made up of
what most people believe are the very basic ingredients of human well-being:
health, education, and income. The first Human Development Index was
presented in 1990.
15. It has been an annual feature of every Human Development Report since,
ranking virtually every country in the world from number one (currently
Iceland) to number 177 (currently Sierra Leone).
This composite index has become one of the most widely used indices of
well-being around the world and has succeeded in broadening the
measurement and discussion of well-being beyond the important, but
nevertheless narrow, confines of income. In a number of countries, the
Human Development Index is now an official government statistic; its
annual publication inaugurates serious political discussion and renewed
efforts, nationally and regionally, to improve lives.
17. WHY HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND
INCOME?
Most people would agree that a long and healthy life, access to
knowledge, and a decent material standard of living are the basic
building blocks of well-being and opportunity. They are also the
building blocks of the American Human Development Index as well
as the U.N. Human Development Index upon which it is modeled.
These three core capabilities are universally valued around the
world, and measurable, intuitively sensible, and reliable indicators
exist to represent them—two critical considerations in the
construction of a composite index.
