On the face of his is a play
featuring and old man and a
small boy meeting in a garden.
Both suffer from physical
impairment but Mr lamb, the
old man takes his life as it
comes to him while the young
boy, Derry is very withdrawn
and defiant.
Mr.Lamb changed Derry's is
pessimistic attitude towards
life.

DERRY's MOTHER

of her son.
She contributes to his isolation by
keeping him home because of his facial
injury, and treats him with a sense of
pity that robs him of dignity and
agency—
She treated him like a helpless victim.
She forbids him from returning to Mr.
Lamb’s house, but Derry leaves anyway,
finally asserting himself in a positive
way.
