The document announces two webinars on informal volunteer recognition to take place during National Volunteer Week. It discusses how recognizing volunteers through both formal events and informal methods can create a culture of appreciation that improves volunteer retention and the overall work environment. The webinars will explore various ways to informally recognize and boost the morale of volunteers and staff. Attendees are provided instructions on joining the webinar via their computer or phone.

Since April 12-18 is National Volunteer Week, we would like to have a discussion on
ways we can informally recognize our volunteers for all that they do.
Every year, thousands of nonprofit organizations take advantage of National Volunteer
Week, and all the enhanced publicity that comes with it, to host lunches, dinners, teas,
ice cream socials, etc., etc. in honor of their volunteers. Unfortunately, for many
organizations, the idea of volunteer recognition starts and stops with these formal
events.
By combining both formal and informal methods of recognition, an organization can
create a “culture of appreciation” in which both volunteers and paid staff feel respected
and valued for their contributions, and have a deeper sense of connection to the
organization and its mission. This results in increased retention, improved quality of
work and, ultimately, a more pleasant work environment for both volunteers and
employees.
This guide looks at the art of informal volunteer recognition and explores a multitude of
ways to create a culture of appreciation that can boost the morale of volunteers and
paid staff.
This is a Voice over “Internet” (VoIP) session, please use where possible. Follow prompts post
