Background:
Every year more than 50 junior tennis tournaments are conducted all over India. The tournaments are conducted by various “host” organizations under the observation of AITA (All India Tennis Association). These tournaments are conducted under 4 different “series” namely - Talent Series (TS), Championship Series (CS), Super Series (SS) and National Series (NS). Also there are different age categories for boys and girls - Under 10 (U10), Under 12 (U12), Under 14 (U14) and Under 16 (U16). The matches fall under 4 different formats - Boys Singles (BS), Girls Singles (GS), Boys Doubles (BD) and Girls Doubles (BG). A tournament can have several combinations of the above, however BS and GS are mostly focused upon.
Current Problem:
Currently most of the tournaments are managed by the “host organizations” using paper templates, phone communication and on-site display boards. This creates 2 different types of problems - 1. The management overhead is high and 2. Communication between the management and the contestants is low. There is a lot of anxiety amongst the contestant and their guardians on the match schedule, the current and final score, draw sheets, lucky loser situation etc. This results in not so pleasant experiences for both the management as well as the contestants.
Proposed Solution:
The above problem can be handled by a shared web application which works on subscription basis for the tournament management. The management can manage the entire tournament as an event using this application.
1. As you land on http://tallyho.in/apps a list of tournaments are listed. The tournaments are taking place across
the country and the city or town name is highlighted with a link. The other information about the tournaments
are also listed like – the tournament level, start date, type of court and the organization who is conducting it.
Note on the right top, you are not logged it yet. You can browse through the website to get information
without having to login.
Each tournament goes through many states – when it is Inviting the players can enroll themselves, then on the
Enrol by Date, it status becomes Upcoming, when enrolling is stopped and draw etc. being prepared. On the
start date the status turns to Ongoing and finally it comes Over. This is when the tournament moves away from
this page.
2. The tournament detail screen has more information that the previous page. It also has all the categories in
which the matches are going to take place, like under-12 boys or girls. While the tournament details are just
for information, the category list has information and links. Each row allows a player to enroll under that
category. One needs to sign in to enroll. Click on the link and it will show the login window or click on the
item Guest to login anyway.
Once the category draw is prepared by the organizer, the option of enrolling taken away. It is possible for a
player to enroll even after that by contacting the organizers directly. If a player wants to enroll in the tournament
and does not want to register with Tallyho, they can do it by contacting the organizer directly.
3. Selecting the draw-status link on a category will show you the draw that has been prepared and published by
the organizer. This view shows who plays with whom. There are 2 draws – main and qualifying (optional).
Later when the matches are going on, this view will keep updating with the progress of this tournament
category.
This view will also me available to the mobile users (after Sep 2015)
4. On the tournament detail page, select one of the prepared draws – Main or Qualifying. You are presented with
the list of matches in the form of Player 1 v/s Player 2. Select the match you wish to watch. Each row has
information like the round number, R1 for round 1; and match sequence as per the draw sheet.
This view will also me available to the mobile users (after Sep 2015). Parents and friends can get the updates of
the match sitting at their homes or offices.
5. The match scoreboard shows up with both the players (or teams, in case of doubles) and the set and game
scores. The green boxes are set scores and pink ones are for game-score. As shown below, this match has not
started. Its scheduled date and time will be added.
Note you are able to view this on mobile app as well (in Sep 2015).
There are various scoring and tie-break rules available – best of 15 games, best of 3 mini-sets or sets and best of
5 sets. Different categories can have any combination of these rules.
6. On the tournament detail screen, select to enroll under a category and you will be required to log-in. If you
have already registered with Tallyho, go ahead else Sign-up with us (shown later).
This view will also me available to the mobile users (after Sep 2015)
7. You are asked to confirm the details one last time before you enroll yourself. Check the location, dates and
category. Press button Create to proceed.
Remember that a player need not sign up with Tallyho to participate in a tournament published on it. Call your
organizers and they will enroll you.
8. Having enrolled yourself, you can check all your enrollments by picking the main menu item Transactions →
My Enrollments and you can view all the other tournaments/categories you have registered for. If the
organizers have already provided a seeding for you, then it will show here else 999 will be shown. You can
choose to delete your enrollment by clicking the link Delete on the row. You will receive an error message if
you try to enroll twice for the same category of a tournament.
You will also receive an error message if you try to register for a category meant for the other gender. Jump to
the tournament detail using the link on the left of each row.
Enrolling will be made easier on our mobile apps which is under development.
9. Signing up as a player can be done on any screen by selecting the main menu item Guest. Signing
10. There are 2 roles in which one can sign up. As a Player and as an Organizer. It is free to sign-up either of the
roles. There will be a physical verification for the organizers however no such verification done for a player.
You can proceed by selecting the Player role.
11. Sign yourself up by providing some basic personal details. Email and username are important for enrolling in
tournaments and receiving alerts and notifications.
Once registered an email would be sent out to the email address provided by you. Follow the email
instructions.
12. Email notification from Tallyho will contain a link to perform Email Verification. Some email application will
show a link in the email. If not, then copy the link and paste in a browser address bar.
13. Now log-in with your new login ID and click on your username to view your profile.
14. You can change password, delete account or log out. More importantly, you can select the link View/Update
Profile and add further more information to your profile.
15. You profile also has provision to capture your AITA (All India Tennis Association) related information like
your AITA number, AITA points, the state you represent and your (or your parent's) mobile number.
You can update any of these information by clicking the side menu Update profile.

transaction by selecting the side menu item Cancel update.
