exposure toa triggerwiththe chance throughoutearlierperiodsof equivalentlength.All time-invariant
confounders(eg,geneticandearlyenvironmental influences) were controlledforbythisanalysisstyle
and that we additional adjustedfortime-varyingsociodemographicfactors.MainOutcomesand
MeasuresAdjustedoddsratios(aORs) of violentcrime occurringwithinthe weekfollowingthe exposure
to a triggereventcomparedwithearlierperiods.ResultsAmongthe sample of two827 607 people (1
492 one86 male and1 335 421 female),all of the examinedtriggereventswere relatedtoredoubled
riskof violentcrime withinthe weekfollowingexposure.the biggest1-weekabsolute riskof violent
crime was discoveredfollowingexposure toviolence(70-177 violentcrimesperten000 persons).for
manytriggers,the relative risksdidn'tvaryconsiderablybydiagnosing,togetherwithunintentional
injuries(aORvary,3.5-4.8),self-harm(aORvary,3.9-4.2),and substance intoxication(aORvary,3.0-4.0).
variationsbydiagnosingenclosedparental mourning,thatwasconsiderablyhigherinpatientswith
schizophrenicpsychosisspectrumdisorders(aOR,5.0;95% CI, 3.0-8.1) comparedwithcontrols(aOR,
1.7; 95% CI,1.3-2.2). Conclusionsandconnectionadditionallytocharacteristicriskfactorsforviolence,
instructive the temporal orderof the triggersmightofferopportunitiestoenhance riskassessmentand
managementinpeople withpsychoticdisorders.
