• Its means that are a not-for-profit
• We have no stockholders

• We exist for the benefit of our 760,000 members- or people who
have planned their financial security with us.
3. Our Mission-

members
•We do this through:
• Quality family life
• Community impact

4. Fraternalism-
• Modern Woodmen Creed: There is a destiny that makes us
brothers, None goes his way alone. All that we send into the
lives of others, comes back into our own.
• Being a financial institution our job is to turn a profit for our
members, but everything past our expenses must go back
into the lives of our members in some form: Mainly through
the afore mentioned Quality family life & Community

Fraternal Projects:
Community Impact
6. Matching Fund Projects:
• This program allows chapter members to show their support for a
community cause or an individual in need. When chapter
members discover a cause they’d like to support, they plan and
conduct fundraisers such as car washes, charity auctions, fish
fries and more. Modern Woodmen matches the amount they raise
up to $2,500
• Volunteer Organizations, Community Projects, Families in need
• Not only do Matching Fund projects raise money for those in
need, they can heighten a chapter’s sense of community as
members rally together for a common cause. The participants feel
good about themselves as they touch lives and improve their
communities.
8. Plant-a-tree-day Project
• Modern Woodmen encourages each local chapter to organize a
tree-planting project each year. Through the Plant a Tree
Program, Modern Woodmen will reimburse up to $250 for the cost
of trees.
• In addition to providing an opportunity to beautify your community,
this project is ecologically minded, simple to organize and fun. It's
a great way for families to get together to improve their local city
park, school yard or other community area.
10. Good-Neighbor Project
• Through this community service activity, local chapters provide
hands-on labor to repair and beautify structures or environments
in their communities. Modern Woodmen provides $500 in funding
to help members pay for these projects.
• The funds and labor provided through the Good Neighbors
activities are important in towns with small budgets for upkeep on
ballpark facilities, local parks, war memorials and many other
community facilities. Other projects like renovating homes and
painting fences benefit members of the community who are in
need, including the disabled, elderly and sick.
• Even a small project can bring people together and awaken a
sense of pride in the community. The chapter members who
worked hard to make the project happen experience the greatest
sense of satisfaction.
12. Join Hands Day
• Set day every year: Saturday, May 3th, 2014
• What it is
The goal of Join Hands Day is to bring young people and adults
together to plan and implement projects that benefit their
communities. It's the only day on the national calendar that brings
generations together through volunteering. Join Hands Day is a
national day of service sponsored by Modern Woodmen and
America's fraternal benefit societies.
13. Care and Share Program
• The Care and Share Program offers an opportunity for members
to reach outside of themselves and help someone in need.
Whether a family needs new clothes after their home was
destroyed by fire or the local food bank is running low on supplies,
Modern Woodmen chapter members can help through this
program.
• Modern Woodmen provides $250 to help pay for donated items.
For individuals and families in need, chapters spend the money
on basic life necessities such as food, furnishings and clothing.
For homeless shelters, members purchase food, cleaning
supplies, blankets and more.
• Chapter members find great satisfaction in shopping for and
delivering much-needed items to a person in their community.

15. Home Town Hero
• As a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen is dedicated to
improving the quality of life for families and communities. The
Hometown Heroes Program gives Modern Woodmen members a
chance to recognize others in the community who strive to do the
same thing through volunteerism or an act of bravery.
• Chapter members choose a member of the community they would
like to thank through this program. It can be a chapter member,
but often it is another member of the community. To show
appreciation for all the work they have done for the community,
the chapter recognizes the honoree with a dinner or another
gathering and presents them with a certificate and a $100
donation to the charity of their choice.
Modern Woodmen helps pay for this activity and provides a
certificate for the chapter to present to the recipient.
16. Fraternal Projects:
Family Life
• At a Family Life Activity, a qualified speaker presents a program
about some aspect of family life. Clergymen, family counselors,
family court judges, psychiatrists, social workers, teachers, police
officers, firefighters and other involved members of the
community are frequently selected for this honor.
• Modern Woodmen helps pay for the costs of the activity and
provides a chance to win a free door prize.
• Educational events are the Family Life counterpart for Summit
Chapters and are tailored specifically for 55-plus Modern
Woodmen members. These include programs on Medicare and
Social Security; Long-Term Care; and Estate Planning.
