George H. W. Bush was born in 1924 in Massachusetts. He served in the Navy during World War II and later found success in the oil industry in Texas. Bush married Barbara Pierce in 1945 and they had six children together. He entered politics and served as a Congressman, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, and Director of the CIA before becoming Vice President under Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1989. Bush then became the 40th President of the United States as a Republican with Dan Quayle as his Vice President.
