2. Introduction
• Pulmonary thrombo embolism is a life threatening condition seen in bedridden as well as
ambulatory patients. It Most commonly occurs as a complication of any major
surgery. Screening of suspected Pulmonary Thromboembolism with CXR, ECG, 2DECHO
& CT pulmonary angiography, D-dimer levels And Early use of heparin to prevent the
Development of Pulmonary Thrombo Embolism
• Tools for diagnosis of Pulmonary Thrombo Embolism are as follows-
• ECG s/o :Right ventricular strain pattern in TE of small vessels and S1 Q3T3 pattern in TE
of main pulmonary arterial trunk
• 2DECHO s/o:Enlargement of RV & RA cavities and septal bulging inside LV cavity
• D – dimer:As D-dimer is a fibrin degradation product, values of D-dimers raised in PTE
• CT (PA):Visualisation of actual thrombus
• CXR:in late stages, due to occlusion of Blood supply, Wedge opacification can be seen.
3. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
• Screening of high risk patients of pulmonary thrombo embolism with
the help of ECG , 2D echo , CT(PA) , d-dimer and Chest X ray And
division of patients based on scoring system into different categories
• Study the role of Anticoagulants and Thrombolysis in pulmonary
thrombo embolism
• Study of outcome In thrombolysed patients of pulmonary thrombo
embolism
4. Methodology
• IPD patients of ward and ICU are taken for the study
• Duration-3 years
• Sample size- 30
• Type of study- Prospective study
• Inclusion criteria- Patients of age more than 14 years
• Exclusion Criteria- Patients with contraindication to Thrombolysis
