3. Workshop Description
The Brief
Background
The Real Choices programme tackles
child poverty in Cornwall and was
looking to run a series of 5 creative
activity days across Cornwall. The aim
was to engage and inspire the families
taking part, whilst encouraging social
interaction between families, and
developing self esteem and self worth
amongst those taking part.
The Creative Activity Days
The task was to involve a closed group of
between 8 and 20 participants of various
ages. The participants would range from
young children to grandparents, so any
activity would need to be suitable for all
of them to get involved.
The ‘end product’ of each session had to
be a good quality artistic product that
the particiapants could take home.
The POPtrait workshop uses digital
photography, printing and colourful paint
to make Pop Art accessible and fun for
all age groups.
Introducing Andy Warhol’s brightly
coloured screen print portraits help
participants create their very own self-
portraits and images. The techniques can
be tailored to individuals’ needs.
By using simple means and an iconic
style, participants derive an immense
sense of satisfaction at being able to
create their own framed works of art.
POPtrait is an effective way for
families and groups requiring bonding
exercises to come together and work on
something creative and satisfying aiding
communication and team buliding.
