During an air raid in London, the narrator hears sirens and bombs going off, terrifying them. They realize they need to get their little sister to the bomb shelters. Though tired, they pack provisions and bring their sister to the crowded, smelly shelters. While waiting in the shelters playing cards, the narrator worries about whether their house has been bombed each time they hear explosions.

2. As I lay in my comfy bed, I was gazing at the ceiling. The silence was deafening. Suddenly, I heard the sirens going off in town. Boom! A bomb went off. I was feeling terrified and Isolated. My heart skipped a beat when I heard a a knock on the door. I gasped in fear. I realised I had to get my little sister. I darted downstairs in shock. The sirens went off!

3. Having decided what to do, I quickly packed some provisions for me and my sister. Despite being tired, I had to go the shelters. Gasping, in the smoke I darted to the shelters. The sirens noise was killing me. The streets were deserted, however the shelters were full of smelly people, who were squeezed in. I got my cards out and played for a while. After a while I hoped that our house was not bombed. Every time a bomb went off it might have been our house. In the shelters
