2. As I lay in my scratchy bed, just as I was drifting off, I heard the unwelcoming sounds of an air raid. Startled, I bounced out of bed and dashed into Chrissie and Ben's room (my younger siblings). I got them out of bed just in the nick of time. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the sirens surrounded across the whole city of London (capital of England). The sirens were really penetrating. The neighbors knocked hard on our old wooden door. At that moment, we ran down the stairs feeling extremely petrified and apprehensive. My mum and dad were away so I, a ten year old girl, was in charge!
3. Silently, we opened the creaky wooden door. I stepped out holding Chrissie and Ben by the hand, and inhaled the repulsive smelling smoke. We scurried across the garden with Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith and Eliza Smith (our neighbors). Already, my whole street was crammed into the compress shelter. By the time we were safely inside, everyone was playing cards and drawing to take there minds of the war. Chrissie and Ben, the youngest, were cold and tired. We didn’t bring the blankets down, so Chrissie ran out into the house. As if it wasn’t bad enough, a bomb dropped before she got there. We didn’t know if she was missing or even worse, DEAD …..
4. After several hours, the sirens stopped. The sky was clear, therefore the warden came and gave us the all clear. When I looked out, it was morning and pouring down. Time to find Chrissie!
