1. THE LEADER IN
MindBodyFitness
EDUCATION
“If you can breathe, you can do yoga.”
- Beth Shaw, founder & president
Established in 1994, YogaFit has trained over 100,000 yoga
and fitness professionals worldwide and is the largest train-
ing school for yoga instructors in North America. When
founder and president Beth Shaw began teaching yoga in
the early 90’s, she quickly recognized that traditional
teaching methods could be perplexing to the mainstream
and were not easily integrated into traditional fitness club
settings. Firm in her belief that yoga could benefit and
transform anyone’s life, Beth developed a unique, user-
friendly and fitness-oriented style of yoga that revolution-
ized the fitness industry.
With a modest beginning, selling wares out of the trunk of
her car, Beth soon was approached by SportsCenter
Fitness in Redondo Beach to create the first yoga center
within a sports club. Instantly met with overwhelming
popularity, it was only three years later that YogaFit began
conducting teacher trainings for instructors to teach in the
demystified YogaFit style.
YogaFit’s teacher trainings have grown to over twenty course offerings, meeting the
needs of all individuals and fitness levels and approved by Yoga Alliance for 200 and
500 hour certification.
With an innovative approach to satisfying the needs of yoga enthusiasts and profes-
sionals, YogaFit also has developed popular lines of environmentally-friendly, US
manufactured clothing, original DVD workout programs, audio CD’s and a diverse
range of accessories for all mind-body fitness needs.
Internationally recognized as a foremost authority on yoga and fitness, Beth Shaw’s
expertise has been profiled in print and television programs including Oprah’s O
Magazine, Time, Entrepreneur, CNN, USA Today, Prevention, More, Glamour, Self,
Yoga Journal, E Style Network, Showtime’s Penn & Teller and many others.
Firmly committed to community service and advocacy, Beth Shaw maintains that
“Karma Yoga is the most important yoga we can do,” and requires all trainees to
complete a mandatory community service requirement in settings where yoga
would otherwise be inaccessible. Beth is also well known in the Los Angeles area
and beyond for her advocacy on behalf of animals and support for humanitarian
causes and she is the founder of the nonprofit organization Visionary Women in
Fitness, providing grants and scholarships to women in need. With a clear vision and
a desire to improve the lives of all people, YogaFit continues to expand and grow.
