ObamaCARE… Holy grail, or Utter Fail?
Ah… the joy of presidential elections. Every four years we get a much needed and
somewhat refreshing reminder that fame and fortune can in no way bring about
maturity. In fact, I’ve noticed a direct and inverse correlation between a politician’s
maturity and the amount of national airtime they receive. But never fear, this
notion indeed brings great hope that the entitled and self-centered generation of
millenials will indeed, as Psychology Today believes, “save us all.” So while we
wait for the swarm of iPhone-wielding Ben Franklins to take the helm in piloting
the world’s strongest and most influential nation, let’s take a step back to the
present and gain as much wisdom from the children’s respected presidential
candidates bickering debating over the 44th
President’s greatest legacy; ObamaCare.
Rand Paul: Wisdom from one of Washington’s “most beautiful men”
The “best dressed man in Washington” may be known for his affinity for turtlenecks, but don’t be
mistaken – his insightful and refreshing take on ObamaCare has made more politicians “hot under the
collar” than even his most fabulous of neck-hugging wardrobes could… Let’s take a moment to
appreciate the wise words of one of Politico’s "thinkers, doers and dreamers" who matter:
"With regard to the idea of whether you have a right to health care, you have to realize what that
implies. It’s not an abstraction. I’m a physician. That means you have a right to come to my
house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. It means that you’re going to enslave
not only me, but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants who
work in my office, the nurses.
Basically, once you imply a belief in a right to someone’s services, do you have a right to
plumbing? Do you have a right to water? Do you have right to food? You’re basically saying
you believe in slavery. You’re saying you believe in taking and extracting from another person.
Our founding documents were very clear about this. You have a right to pursue happiness but
there’s no guarantee of physical comfort. There’s no guarantee of concrete items. In order to
give something concrete, you have to take it from someone. So there’s an implied threat of
force.
If I’m a physician in your community and you say you have a right to health care, do you have a
right to beat down my door with the police, escort me away and force me to take care of you?
That’s ultimately what the right to free health care would be. If you believe in a right to health
care, you’re believing in basically the use of force to conscript someone to do your bidding."
Conclusions: ObamaCare is obviously slavery and Rand Paul just might be the reincarnated Lincoln…
You might think I’m kidding but both Paul and Lincoln were from Kentucky, abolishers of slavery,
AND had an affinity for turtlenecks. Coincidence? Maybe. But if I didn’t know any better, I’d think we
were on to something here… Someone ought to look into this.
Bernie Sanders: A counter from a Brooklyn-born liberal icon and Recording artist
Mr. Sanders, the famous voice behind the hit iTunes album We Shall Overcome, as it happens, is also
running for president in 2016. Using his perch as the chairman of the subcommittee, Sanders gives us
all a lesson in how to “overcome” reincarnated Lincolns like Rand Paul by asking a witness, physician
Dana Kraus, whether she felt like a "slave" working at her federally qualified health center.
To Paul’s dismay, her answer was truly heart wrenching for the millions of workers enslaved under the
yoke of the Affordable Care Act:
"I love my job," she responded. "I do not feel like a slave."
- Dana Kraus, 2015-
Clearly the U.S. government is not only imposing slavery upon its citizens but there seems to be a great
amount of brainwashing taking place as well; they don’t even know they’re being enslaved…
To this I respond with one thing: Poor Dana:(
The Aristocrat’s Waiver: Hypocrisy at its best
“It appears that Rand Paul and other Republicans who say that they object to
ObamaCare and who criticize the president for serially waiving statutory provisions for
political expedience have no problem doing the same when it comes to their own perks.”
Well then again, that’s politics for you; we expect nothing less. To be honest, we’d be worried if these
politicians WERE willing to drink from the same cup of burden they impose on us “average”
Americans… it’s just kinda fishy. These days, a virtuous politician should probably be less trusted
than a conniving one and like Patrick Henry said, these politicians make me think one thing; I smell a
rat. Then again, this is the same man who said “give me liberty or give me death” which is great and
all but if possible, I’d like a third option. Luckily, the world still has insightful men like Rand Paul
who keep us grounded in truth, even invoking biblical allusions when necessary…
“I was not a member of the United States Senate during the 111th Congress, but if I had
been I would have voted against Obamacare. As your President, one of my first acts would
be to repeal the abomination that is Obamacare.”
Paul’s way with words is just moving, you agree? Well, at least he’s in agreement with the other GOP
candidates on this one, ObamaCare has gotta go. Oh! And let’s not forget, he hasn’t even declared
ObamaCare to be unconstitutional yet! Time to up the ante Paul; cut the bull**** and take this straight
to the Supreme Court already. We all know it’s gonna happen eventually.
Marco Rubio: Exotic Bird Cage builder and Disco music hater
Ø Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) told donors Monday morning that he is running for
president in 2016 and that he is “uniquely qualified” to be the GOP nominee, a
campaign source in Miami confirmed to msnbc. But wait, can we ask this GOP
candidate about his ‘unique stance’ on Obamacare? Yep, I think his answer is
‘uniquely’ to repeal ObamaCare! I think the question we should really be asking is,
is Tupac really dead?
Well hold on, let’s not write him off just yet. Remember his Florida Health Choices program?!
That was a great success wasn’t it? Oh wait, 6 months after the launch of the state funded
healthcare program a grand total of 30 PEOPLE had signed up! Hey, at least their website
worked… Charles Gaba crunched the numbers to find the costs per enrollee and found that
Florida Health Choices is vastly more expensive than, say, the Affordable Care
Act’s healthcare.gov, while offering much less. Can you blame them for not joining?
Just to be clear on what Rubio considers decentralized vs centralized:
• Expanded Choice in Medicaid: Give Medicaid participants control over their own health
while encouraging healthy habits (decentralized care)
• Implement Florida Senior Care to allow Florida seniors to remain independent and
receive the care they need at home (decentralized care)
• Create a "one-stop" source of information on assistance for Florida's
uninsured (centralized information)
• Encourage healthcare providers to expand preventive services and walk-in care for
uninsured Floridians (remain decentralized, but expand decentralized services)
• Help hospitals serve patients with immediate medical problems to avoid emergency
departments while still receiving the necessary care (remain decentralized, but expand
decentralized services)
John Kasich: Will the savior of Medicaid expansion bring hope for Obamacare?
A lesson in political “hit it and quit it”:
"I'm not for Obamacare. I have expanded Medicaid, because I wanted to bring Ohio dollars
back to Ohio. We've been able to apply it to bring significant change, and our ultimate goal is
that so all of these people who have been hurt can be in a position to get on their feet and
move forward."
The good news:
He’s not for ObamaCare either, Goodbye slavery.
