2. A carpenter, a scientist and an artist once
went on hiking together.
They saw a pine tree in their trip. After
staring at it for a while, the carpenter said,
“It can be a good furniture.” The scientist
said, “It’s a kind of seed plants” Then
they heard the artist’s joyful voice,
“Don’t you see her wonderful color and
her pretty figure?”
3. Difference?
The carpenter took an attitude of applicability.
In contrast, their artist friend concentrated on the tree
itself. He used his intuition to feel it instead of thinking
about it, and he gained a special feeling for the figure
of the tree. And that feeling is what I consider as the
aesthetic beauty.
The scientist took an attitude of science.
Neither the carpenter nor the scientist focused
on the tree.
What they really cared about are things
related to the pine tree.
intuition n.直觉
4. So why is this feeling so important
that it even becomes a subject?
Basically, all the knowledge we have for this world
comes from the five senses. If we have no eyes, we may
not wear colorful clothes, and there will be no painters
in the world. Once we learn how to use our intuition to
gain the aesthetic beauty from things in our daily life,
we can find a new world, just like we gain a kind of new
eyes which can help us to understand the world in an
unexpected perspective, just like a new DLC is enclosed.
And in this way, we can explore this world more deeply
and escape from the stale, boring lives.
