In the US 3.5- 5 million people experience homelessness annually (National Coalition for
the Homeless)
1543 people are homeless on any given day in Palm Beach County. This includes 78
families with children (2013 Palm Beach County Point-In-Time Count)
On any given night 3200 men, women and children are homeless in Palm Beach County
(estimate by the State of Florida)
Nationally: $16,000 is the cost of housing a homeless person for one year –
The Lord’s Place: The cost of housing a homeless person for one year is $5842. The cost of
housing one adult family member or child for one yearis $3,452.
Florida is among the top 10 states for extent of homelessness. (State of Homelessness
report by NAEH).
Palm Beach County ranked 5th in Florida for highest number of students in emergency or
transitional housing (Florida Department of Education 2012)
Palm Beach County’s children go hungry three times more than the national average.

There are only 31 affordable and available rental units in Florida for every 100 extremely
low-income (<30% AMI) renter households (Shimberg Center for Housing Studies, Univ. of
Florida)
South Florida ranks No. 1 among the largest 150 metro areas for the "housing burden" on
renters and homeowners — defined as spending that tops 30 percent of income (South
Florida Regional Planning Council)
The Lord’s Place Programs Stats
Housing:
From 10/1/2013 to 9/30/2014, 324 individuals were residents in The Lord’s Place
housing programs. There were 60 families served consisting of 108 children and 72
adults.
94% were no longer homeless at the end of the year.
Of 152 individuals and family members who left our housing program during the year,
131 or 86% left to stable housing.
51% of adults who exited our housing programs left with jobs and increased income
and savings.
Housing residents are saving $123 a month, on average.
2. Employment:
From 10/1/2013 to 9/30/2014, 439 individuals enrolled in our Job Training and
Employment Program.
272 individuals participated in our Job Readiness classroom training program and 240
or 88% successfully graduated.
82 individuals participated in our apprenticeship training programs.
Our Job Training and Employment participants received 172 job offers.
Of 49 employees hired by The Lord’s Place from 10/1/2013 to 9/30/2014, 36 or 73%
were program participants.
Reentry:
The Transition from Jail to Community Project served 200 participants. A recidivism
rate of 34.5% compared favorably tothe 44% rate reported by the Pew Center and the
50% jail recidivism rate reported nationally.
The Restore Program is for individuals returning from prison. Of 148 served, only
4.08% have returned to prison.
Mental Health:
85% of those who left our mental health program were stable and taking their
medications at time of transfer to the local community mental health system.
97% were connected with a medical home at time of discharge.
95% had health insurance.
90% were stably housed.
55% were employed or receiving Social Security Disability benefits.
Of those who left the program, 41 had psychiatric hospital diversions and 23 had
medical hospital diversions while in the program.
Social Returns:
81% of alumni have remained free of emergency room visits.
86% have remained free of criminal convictions.
86% have remained free of psychiatric hospitalizations.
Agency Wide:
For the calendar year 2014 we had 1382 active unduplicated program participants.
In 2014, our walk in center had 247 new participants and we averaged 500 walk-ins
each month.
On any given day we have 174 participants in our housing programs, 473 in job
training, 48 in reentry and 36 in social enterprises.
We have 627 program graduates in our Alumni Relations program.
In summary, in the course of a year we touch over 1600 unduplicated participants and
on any given day we have over 700 unduplicated individuals enrolled in ourvarious
programs.
