Operation Sukama Sakhe (OSS)
The origin of Masisukuma Sakhe, which is the motto on
the crest of the Provincial Government of KwaZulu-Natal,
is taken from the Prophet Nehemiah 2:18, where he
yearns to rebuild a city that has been destroyed.
Operation Sukuma Sakhe then is
a call for the people of KwaZulu-Natal to be
determined to overcome the issues that have
destroyed the communities such as poverty,
unemployment, crime, substance abuse, HIV &
AIDS and TB.

Quotes:
1. “Without a challenge we will never know
what we are capable of…”
2. “We need people open to change as well as
people who remind us what is rich and
wonderful about our tradition - we need
pioneers as well as settlers...”
3. What counts in life is not the mere fact that
we have lived. It is what difference we have
made to the lives of others that will
determine the significance of the life we
lead.”

Editor's Notes
Clear that we need to address those that are dependent on public transport with an efficient and effective service to connect them to future economic opportunities. Still clearly showing that we are having lower levels to the north of the city – with the City centre still being responsible for highest degree of job oppurtunity
