Please accept this letter and attached resume as a formal application for the position
in Memphis, Tennessee. I believe my background and experiences in education are
uniquely suited for position described for several reasons.
First, I have extensive experience collecting, preparing, maintaining, and organizing
documents required for District, State, and Federal funding of Pre-Kindergarten
Program at Shelby Oaks Elementary. This includes documenting personal, academic,
and behavioral information in student files; collecting and organizing documents for
yearly re-certification from the Department of Education; recording daily health and
safety checks of school environment and students’ health; and planning weekly
lessons. It is imperative that these documents are collected, correctly filled out,
organized in a precise order, stored accurately, and turned into supervisors in a
timely fashion to maintain certification from the Department of Education and
funding from Federal Head Start Program.
Second, I have experiences scheduling, preparing, conducting, and documenting
conferences with stakeholders involved in academic, behavioral, physical, and social
development of students in my classroom. Each family in the Pre-Kindergarten
program is required to have four conferences with their child’s teacher. I am
responsible for scheduling, preparing, executing, and documenting these
conferences. These conferences may be conducted at school, at their home, or on the
telephone.
Third, I am proficient at collecting and analyzing data. As an educator, I have to take
data from several different sources to plan research-based lesson plans and
activities that significantly increase academic, social, behavioral, or developmental
success for each student in my classroom. If necessary, I must use that data to locate
additional resources to assist in the success of each student.
Lastly, I possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be flexible and
adaptable. I also have excellent communication skills and have in-depth experience
dealing with all personality types. I must be prepared for any and all classroom
circumstances including being able to educate students, collect data, and turn in
required documentation on time.
