What else<br />* During his reign he built or re-modeled 70 palaces and had a fortress erected along the South coast. <br />* He popularized the art of portraiture and patronized the Arts. <br />* He introduced progressive and efficient taxation schemes. <br />* He was the principle founder of the English Navy, which was to be the basis for England's future dominance on the sea.<br />
