It’s the summer of 1986, Chad has just dropped out of college. He is “siked” to see where life
will take him next and immediately jumps onto his skateboard. Chad accidentally leads
himself down a nearby hill and finds himself on a mental cruise through the streets of his
small city. He is forced to dodge, duck and leap various awkwardly placed urban
architecture. Standing in his path are lively piles of gravel and used chewing gum
monsters, left by his evil french exchange, Jean-Paul. To defeat the gravel monsters, he
must either double jump over them or, for extra points, jump onto them. If he collides with
the gravel, he will be flung from his board. To defeat the gum, he must jump over it without
it catching him with it’s sticky arms either wise he will be left stuck and incapacitated.
To control Chad, press the ‘W’ key to jump, press it twice to double jump and press the ‘S’
key to duck. The game’s graphics will be heavily stylized around the 8 bit style of the 80’s
and 90’s platformers and will be presented as an ‘endless runner game’ with looping levels,
that speed up as you skate through them. However, the character model combines a unique
mix of retro 8 bit features with real life images to create a ‘DIY’ effect to the design of the
game.
The game takes pride in it’s simplicity and poses as both an authentic 80’s video game,
reminiscent of it’s style and cultures. It’s soundtrack will be a unique hybrid of 8 bit beats
with the jangly guitars found on many of the indie 80’s mixtapes.
The scenery will be full of both the neon lights and classic brickwork of a typical, american
city of the era.
