To Whom it May Concern,
I recommend Mr. Matthew Sugar very highly and without reservations for any supply
chain management position that he is applying for. I personally know Matthew through
the Undergraduate Program at Bryant University where he was a student of mine in the
course Corporate Social Responsibility in the Global Supply Chain (Fall 2015) and as
Matthew’s advisor for his internship with Teknor Apex in spring 2016. In the Corporate
Social Responsibility course Matthew was an active participant in class discussions, and he
submitted all assignments on time and at a high level of quality. His topic paper on
“Sustainable Food” was well written and had a solid reference section. In addition, I
observed that Matthew got along well with his classmates and that he was a team player
for group projects. Matthew is equally adept at both individual and group work. During
his Teknor Apex internship I was impressed with the way Matthew included sustainable
criteria in the Initial Supplier Selection Evaluation model that he developed. Matthew did
a lot of research to not only develop the model but also to justify its validity to the
management at Teknor Apex. The fact that Matthew’s model is being used by Teknor
Apex confirms the value of the work he did.
I have discussed with Matthew why he wants to pursue a career in supply chain
management. He indicated to me that he feels supply chain is a fast-paced, challenging
environment where he can continuously apply his knowledge to improve the capabilities of
the company he is working for. Matthew is aware of the need to continuously learn and
he has a proven ability to do what it takes to expand his knowledge base. In summary I
can say that I feel very confident that Mr. Matthew Sugar will be a valued addition to any
company he works for. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions
concerning Matthew’s qualifications.
Sincerely,
John K. Visich, Ph.D.
