To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to recommend Marvin Yueheng Wang for the position of Video Editor at Berklee Online.
For the past 2 years, Marvin has worked for me as a student employee supervisor here at Berklee’s
Center for Technology in Music Instruction (CTMI). The CTMI is the premier technology lab on
campus specifically designed for Berklee faculty. We offer technology resources and training for faculty,
providing them with opportunities to explore new ways of incorporating technology into their teaching.
We rely heavily on our student employees to accomplish much of the work we do and it is undoubtedly
one of the most challenging student employment opportunities on campus. Our student employees must
have exceptional technical and troubleshooting skills and they must be knowledgeable with an incredibly
diverse array of software and hardware, as well as Berklee specific technologies and processes.
From time to time we are lucky to have student employees who truly stand out. And Marvin has been
one of our best. For the last 2 years, we have had the chance to watch Marvin grow as a student and as a
student employee. He is smart, knowledgeable, and learns new concepts very quickly. He is friendly,
responsible and was our “go-to” student for projects that required attention to detail and tight deadlines.
Faculty who needed help often requested to work with Marvin specifically because of his knowledge and
patience. But more than that, Marvin’s greatest impact on our department was his work developing
learning assets.
One of the primary functions of our department is to create training assets that help faculty learn
technology. Marvin’s work in this area has directly contributed to our success. Marvin spent much of the
last year as our chief video editor and production assistant. Our training videos regularly received positive
reviews from faculty for their high-quality content and their unique look-and-feel. Much of this was due
to Marvin’s hard work and innovative filming, editing, and production techniques. His work included
shooting footage and assembling assets, recording and editing voiceovers, creating still and motion
graphics, editing, coloring grading, and final export into various formats. He worked with a wide range of
software including Final Cut Pro, Motion, Photoshop, Screen Flow, Logic, and Pro Tools among others.
Marvin also has the added advantage of having worked as a student in a technical department here at
Berklee. So he is familiar with specific Berklee processes (like the support ticket data base), he has
established relationships with faculty whom he has helped and worked with, and he has a genuine love
for and understanding of the culture here at Berklee.
It is for these reasons I hope you will consider Marvin Yueheng Wang for the Video Editor position at
Berklee Online.
Sincerely,
Michael Carrera
