the Roband High Speed Grill by family business, Metcalfe
Catering Equipment. Available in 6 and 8 slice models,
the grill is ideal for rapidly toasting sandwiches, paninis
and focaccia bread and can also sear and grill meat, fish,
vegetables and cheese. Customers also have the option of
purchasing either a smooth or ribbed plated grill, with the
ribbed plates creating authentic grill lines on the food once
cooked.
For even heat distribution, the grill has a full cast, high
pressure, aluminium plate with the cooking surface
producing an efficient heat transfer ensuring food is cooked
quickly with an even colour. Users also have the option of
switching between lower plate only, which is plancha or
griddle mode, or contact grill mode depending on the type
of food they wish to grill.
There are two dials on the front of the appliance, with the
first one independently controlling the top and bottom plate
and the second dial reaching a maximum temperature of
280 degrees. The grill also has a precise thermostat for
controlling the cooking temperature, as well as a removable
grease tray to ensure the front of the appliance stays
grease-free. To avoid grease and crumbs falling into the
back of the appliance, the top plates of the grill are cleverly
positioned over the bottom ones, ensuring that all excess
residue falls onto the bottom plates. Also, each appliance
has a high splash guard ensuring grease or food doesn’t drip
down the outside.
The Roband Grill stations are available with non-stick coated
plates or an optional Roband Grill sheet with clip, ensuring
that little or no food sticks to the plates. Appliances can
also be double stacked, with the grill base being a ‘cool
zone’ allowing it to be placed on plastic or laminated work
surfaces. Using specialist patented element technology,
the Roband High Speed Grill also removes the risk of
element ‘burn-out’ and ‘contact link wire’ breakage, which is
a common issue with other contact grills that can be quite
expensive to fix.
The grill runs on a free pin plug allowing for easy set-up
and is extremely easy to clean due to its special heat proof
feature. To clean, simply use a high strength sanitiser such

just a few sprays which can easily remove excess food, for
example grilled cheese, which may be stuck to the lid.
