2. In 2016, an estimated 54.5% of the world’s population lived in urban areas, and
this number is just going to grow even more. Cities are the designated place for
people to live in the future, but how are these cities going to look?
3. Place and
size
Cities of the future will be located where cities are
located nowadays, but they will be larger. These cities
can expand underground, vertically, or even undersea
or on the water to optimize the space used.
4. Characteristics of the
citizens in the future
Environmentally
friendly
Used to new
technologies
More free
time
This will lead us to...
Long-term
vision
6. Clean
It is not a secret that pollution and
contamination are major problems in
today’s society, and solving them is a
must if we want to be able to live in the
Earth for longer. Cities will have to adapt
and become greener to avoid pollution.
7. Technologically advanced
Technology is the modern day art. Nowadays it is very different than how it was 20
years ago. If it has changed so much in 20 years and has made us almost
dependent on it, it’s inimaginable how much technology will change in 100 years,
but it’s evident that humans will need it.
8. Leisure oriented
People in the future won’t have to work as much
as people work nowadays because Artificial
Intelligence will take over jobs. Because of that
reason, people will have a lot more free time and
cities will have to adapt to this.
9. Sustainability
Future cities will get all of their energy from sustainable energy sources. This
energy can come from:
The sun The wind The moving water
10. Other important factors: comfort oriented
-Balance between size and comfort
-Ease and speed in transport
11. Other important factors: The
community
-Efficient public services
-Citizen participation in community decisions
12. In conclusion I envision the city of the future as a city
which will satisfy the citizens’ needs and demands:
-Technologically advanced
-Leisure oriented
-Community driven
-Clean
-Sustainable
-Comfort oriented
