Dear Sir or Madam,
I am currently the Technical Manager of European Oat Millers and started in this role at the same time Martin Ash
joined as Interim Hygiene Manager. Although I did not hire him I am very grateful to my predecessor;Martin has
reported to me during his time here. Martin’s term here started at the beginning ofFebruary and in the 7 months
he has made a big impacton the company.It is a shame thathe was unable to join us in a permanentposition as
I would have been very keen to offer him the role.
Martin has a real ability to connect with people and it comes so easilyto him that he probably does notappreciate
the skill that he has.It allows him to get the mostout of the people who work for him,influence his peers and
communicate to those leading the company. In addition to this he has a drive which is infectious,not only in the
moment,butalso though working long hours and antisocial hours where required. He has also been very capable
in managing the external contractors,suppliers and agencyworkers which the Hygiene Manager is accountable
for.
The role which Martin has performed is very easy to measure through the visible condition ofthe factory and it is
clear to everyone that there has been a step change in the environment. In addition to this Martin has
implemented a measure to ensure that deep cleans are performed in the right timeframe,butmore importantly
has ensured thatthe equipmentis released to the hygiene team so that the work can be completed.
