This document discusses a proposal to make self-defense education and resources more accessible and widespread in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The proposal involves creating a website with information on existing self-defense classes and resources, sponsoring individuals to take classes, and developing a mobile app that provides safety tips, connects users to emergency contacts, and eventually offers escort and drone-based walk home services. The goal is to address a lack of awareness of self-defense options and make safety a social norm. Revenue would come from sponsorships, class fees, and merchandise sales to support expanding the program.

In Fargo in 2014, there were 170 structural fires.
There has not been a tornado in Fargo since 1957.
Now, in 2014 alone, there were over 200 aggravated assaults, and 65 gross sexual impositions.
We are here to change that mindset and to…
Currently, in Fargo-Moorhead, there are all of these resources when it comes to self-defense and personal safety. But, when we talked to 21 individuals yesterday, only 2 had ever taken or heard of a self-defense course in the area, even though all 21 thought that self-defense and situational awareness are valuable skills.
So the problem is that though many entities are working to combat violence, the most at-risk groups we talked to (like college students) are not aware of these options. We are working to change that and to make safety the norm.
To solve this problem, we have built a website of resources available in the F-M Area.
Provide both access to, knowledge of, and methods of sponsorship for self-defense classes.
Picture of SWAG?
Since yesterday, we have received $150 in sponsorship pledge dollars. On top of that, four people of the 21 interviewed yesterday have already signed on to receive a sponsorship. Plus, two martial arts instructors have agreed to both host and teach classes in their facilities.
