Maurizio Alfieri DipPFS
Group Operations Director
Maurizio Alfieri is Group Operations Director for the Invicta Financial Group and provides client advice
as the Principal Partner and senior investment adviser of Invicta Financial Planning LLP. Before
joining the financial services industry with Co-operative Insurances Services in 2007, Maurizio worked
in the catering sector, mainly for prominent hotels and restaurants, having attained a BA (Hons) Degree
in Hotel Management at the University of Gloucester, moving to a sales-related role in that industry
before a career change in financial services.
Having qualified as a financial adviser at the Co-operative, Maurizio moved on to the bank assurance
sector at Royal Bank of Scotland as an investment adviser, dealing with both personal and corporate
clients, and started working with Mark Silvester in the original Invicta business as an independent
financial adviser in November 2009.
He became a partner at the firm when the business was re-structured as a limited liability partnership
in early 2012, having attained diploma level professional qualifications and financial services private
client experience since joining Invicta, as well as a director of Invicta Financial Services, following the
merger with Janice Hook’s business in late 2013.
Maurizio is from Naples, Italy but has lived in the UK since an early age, as his family owned and ran
restaurant businesses in the South of England. He is married with three children and enjoys all kinds
of sporting activities, including cycling and running. Outside of the business, Maurizio also gives his
time to a local independent school as Finance Director.
Janice Hook MIFS DipFA
Director
Janise Hook is a director of the Invicta Financial Group and provides client advice as the senior
investment adviser and a director of Invicta Financial Services Limited. Before joining the financial
services industry as one of the founding associates of the Edward Jones UK stockbroking business in
1998, Janice had a long and successful career in the Lloyd’s insurance market, mainly working with
commercial insurance organisations.
Janice set up her own independent financial advice business, McLaughlin Hook, in September 2005,
having qualified as a stockbroker and financial adviser at Edward Jones, as well as gaining a wealth of
financial services private client experience during her time with that firm.
Following the departure from McLaughlin Hook of her former business partner in 2012, Janice
changed the name of the firm to Invicta Financial Services, with the intention of linking up with
Maurizio Alfieri and Mark Silvester to form the current consolidated group of Invicta businesses, and
also became a partner of Invicta Financial Planning LLP in 2013. Janice also holds financial services
diploma level qualifications.
Janice is married and has a daughter in her late teens that has recently started working at the property
management business that Janice also owns, JH Property Management, which looks after a significant
number of residential property sites in the South of England.
Outside of the business, Janice enjoys a busy social life, foreign travel, and also gives her time to a number
of local charities, has previously held a position for many years as a school governor and is currently
president of a number resident’s committees for the property location’s that the JHPM business manages.

Mark Silvester
Group Managing Director
Mark Silvester is Group Managing Director for the Invicta Financial Group and is also the Managing
Partner of Invicta Financial Planning LLP. Before joining the financial services industry with
Laurentian Life in 1989, Mark worked in the retail banking sector with Barclays, and still draws on his
knowledge and experience gained in the banking corporate world when providing business consultancy
services and corporate client advice as the senior adviser of Invicta Corporate Services Limited.
Having qualified as a financial adviser at Laurentian, Mark progressed through sales management roles
to a senior regional management position with that organisation, which involved the recruitment, training
and development, management and regulatory supervision of a branch network of financial advisers.
Mark subsequently went on to work in similar roles for Sun Life of Canada, Eagle Star and Canada Life
before joining the Lighthouse Group as a director in 2001.
He set up the original Invicta independent financial advice business in January 2002, as a franchise
operator under Lighthouse, before breaking from that organisation to establish Invicta Wealth
Management Consultants in March 2003, as part of the Trinity House Group national co-operative of
financial advice businesses. This included the original Invicta business and sister company Invicta
Mortgage & Insurance Services, which have since evolved to the entities that currently form the
consolidated group of Invicta businesses, and include Invicta Commercial Finance, Invicta Mortgage
Services and the recently launched Iridium franchise brand.
He is a director of Invicta Financial Services, following the merger with Janice Hook’s business in late
2013, where Mark undertakes much of the day to day management and compliance responsibilities for
the firm and the other regulated entities of the group.
Mark is married to Tina Silvester, who is Group Personal Assistant as well as the senior administrator
for Invicta Financial Planning. Although Mark’s main responsibilities are the development, management
and strategic planning side of the group’s businesses, he still gets involved with both personal and
corporate clients, maintaining client relationships established over some 25 years in the financial
services industry
Outside of the business, Mark participates in many sporting and leisure activities, including sub-aqua and
staying fit, music, and enjoys motorsport and travelling, having a keen interest in foreign cuisine and wines.
