1. Kingdom Chronicles: Full Armor of God
Day 1 Training
Theme: In a battle between 2 kingdoms, only God’s Kingdom is
true (Ephesians 6:10-11). Be strong in the Lord by
putting on the full armor of God.
Setting: In the hamlet of Westerville, a young squire, Caleb,
seeks to become a knight but finds a most unlikely
teacher to train him in the ways in the Lord.
Caleb: (Excited) Sir! Can you please help me?
Knight: (Also excited) Welcome, young lad. I, Sir Trainsalot
from the hamlet of Westerville am at your service.
Caleb: (Dropping his bag of armor) I hope I came to the right
place. Could you please train me to become a knight?
Knight: I’m afraid I can’t help you, son. I was dubbed Sir
Trainsalot for my Lego train collection that I let the
king play with between battles.
Caleb: I’m sorry, sir. I heard much about you from Sir
Praysalot of Hilliard and….
Knight: Say no more, lad. Have you papers from Sir Praysalot?
Caleb: (Fumbling through bag) Yes, sir. Here they are.
Knight: (Reading the letter; light Medieval music in background)
2. To the beloved Sir Trainsalot,
May the hope that is in Christ be with you as you read this. I
am training my son for his squire exams and I need your
help. Young Caleb has already passed his squire exams and
has been baptized into Christ. His father, Sir Jim of the
Brazzell clan, is sharpening his weapons before meeting his
daughter’s betrothed, Prince Chris of Topher. Would you
please give Caleb the training that he needs to be prepared for
Spiritual battle? Finish the race well, my brother, and let our
paths cross again soon, either in this life or with our Father.
In His Service, Sir Praysalot
Knight: Very well, Caleb. I shall train you to be a knight.
Caleb: (Kneeling before the knight) Thank you, my lord. I
promise to serve only you!
Knight: (Angrily) Then thou must depart from me, Caleb!
Caleb: But I promised my loyalty to you, my lord!
Knight: Although a servant has a master, we all serve the same
Master! Sir Praysalot and I are brothers from the same
Heavenly Father. You must put your faith and trust in
God alone. He will provide for you in all battles when
you pray in His name and according to His will.
Caleb: (Head slightly bowed) I understand, my lord. When
and wherever I serve God, I will also serve His people.
Knight: Well said, Caleb. You have now passed your first test
on your way to knighthood. Are you ready for your
second test?
3. Caleb: Yes my lord! What shall we do next?
Knight: Stand your steed and wait for your instructions to
engage me at the other side of the tilt. Are you ready?
Caleb: (Afraid) No, my lord.
Knight: Are you not man enough to ride into battle?
Caleb: (Nervously) Well … surely you would not expect me to
go into battle without protection, my lord?
Knight: (Greatly pleased) No young squire, I would not! You
have passed the second test. The devil is a greater
adversary than even a million-man army. You must be
sure to put on the full armor of God if you expect to
defeat your enemies both physically and spiritually!
Caleb: (Remembering) Yes, my lord. Sir Praysalot preached
often from Ephesians 6:10-11 in our studies.
Knight: Excellent, young Caleb! Your memory will need to
serve you well as you train to become a knight.
Caleb: I’m still a work in progress, but our God will not desert
us if we fight for Him, my lord.
Knight: We have much work to do, Caleb if you want to fight in
God’s army. Get a good night’s sleep!
Caleb: Good night, my lord!
4. Kingdom Chronicles: Full Armor of God
Day 2 Training
Theme: As children of the King, we must put on the belt of
truth (Ephesians 6:14a) as part of the full armor of God.
We can choose to believe in Scripture’s truth or in
Satan’s lies. Make right choices! Decide your side!
Setting: Squire Caleb and Sir Trainsalot are situated on opposite
ends of the tilt in preparation for their next duel.
Caleb: (Yawning and stretching) I’m ready to train, my lord.
What is today’s lesson about?
Knight: Put on your armor, Caleb and mount your steed. You
will find out soon enough.
Caleb: (Confused) I don’t understand, my lord. Why are we
using the hobbyhorses?
Knight: It’s expensive to train with real horses and Lady
Lyndsay’s horses have all been taken from the Barnard.
But I assure you that more important things will be
taught than horse riding.
Caleb: (Still confused) I’m ready, my lord. What’s with the
swimming noodle, though?
Knight: Westerville law states that churches are sword-free
zones, so I had to improvise. And trust me, lad, you’ll
be thankful by the end of our training.
Caleb: I’m at the jousting tilt, my lord. Count us down from 3!
5. Knight: 3, 2, 1 charge!! (Heading toward one another as Sir
Buildsalot hit Caleb in the midsection)
Caleb: (Falls to the ground, clutching midsection) My lord,
surely you knew that you took my belt before battle!
Knight: I did Caleb, and stop calling me Shirley! There are 2
lessons that you should have learned from this.
Caleb: Well, my lord, I guess that should have checked my
armor to make sure that it was all there.
Knight: Excellent, Caleb! The full armor of God must be put
on for battle, not just part of it. What else?
Caleb: Sir Praysalot taught us from Ephesians 6:14a that the
belt represents the truth, my lord. Although I always
try to tell the truth, I think they mean something else.
Knight: The question is, what is your source of truth?
Caleb: The Bible is the absolute authority and my truth!
Knight: Excellent, young squire! You have now passed the
third test towards knighthood! The belt of truth will
always allow you to make right choices.
Caleb: (Chuckling) Ah, my lord! My sister, the soon-to-be
princess, loves to say, “Make right choices!”
Knight: Sleep well, Caleb. Tomorrow is another day and there
are more lessons to be learned.
6. Kingdom Chronicles: Full Armor of God
Day 3 Training
Theme: As children of the King, we must also put on the
breastplate of righteousness and the shoes of peace
(Ephesians 6:14b-15) as part of the full armor of God.
We must always obey God completely without delay.
Setting: Sir Trainsalot and young Caleb are back at the jousting
tilt, ready to duel once again on their hobbyhorses.
Knight: Are you ready to engage in battle, Caleb?
Caleb: I am, my lord. Are you? You don’t have either your
sword or your hobbyhorse!
Knight: I’m always ready for Spiritual battle, Caleb. But first
come here, I need to show you something.
Caleb: I still don’t see how you are supposed to defeat me
when you don’t have your … Oww!!! (Hops on 1 foot)
What did you do that for? Oww!! (Falls to ground)
Knight: Why did you fall, young Caleb?
Caleb: Because you tricked me! I didn’t have my shoes on!
Knight: Yeh, I’ll bet that hurt! There’s 2 parts to this lesson.
The first part is to neither overestimate nor
underestimate your opponent. If God is on your side,
you won’t lose. Gideon’s men defeated the Midianites
and Joshua’s army destroyed Jericho because God was
with them. How did you overestimate me in battle?
7. Caleb: I thought I couldn’t lose because you had no armor.
Knight: Exactly! You underestimated me. The second part was
that I took advantage of your weakness. You wrongly
thought that you didn’t need your shoes when riding
your horse against an unarmed man. The shoes of
peace are also important in scriptural battle because we
must preach the gospel of peace to all that we see. We
may be the only Jesus that they witness, and we must be
sure of our footing in our Christian walk.
Caleb: (Still holding his feet) I will be sure to keep my shoes
on until my feet need washed, my lord! I have
definitely learned my lesson.
Knight: You have many lessons yet to learn, young Caleb. For
instance, did you notice that your breastplate cracked
where you put your name?
Caleb: I don’t understand, my lord. It was fine yesterday!
Knight: Ephesians 6:14b-15 said to put on the shoes of peace
and the breastplate of righteousness, not the breastplate
of self-righteousness. Once again, you underestimated
God by putting your own name on the armor.
Caleb: I’m sorry, my lord. I forgot that all the battles that we
win are for God’s glory, not our own. I’ll remove my
nametag and replace it with the Lord’s name right now!
Knight: Well done, Caleb! You just passed another test towards
knighthood, but there are more challenges ahead. Be
alert and prayerful as you continue your training. God
will reward your complete and immediate obedience.
8. Kingdom Chronicles: Full Armor of God
Day 4 Training
Theme: Children of the King must also put on the shield of faith
and the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:16-17a) as
part of the full armor of God. We must also learn to
discern. Watch out for false teachings and temptations.
Setting: The knight and squire are talking at the jousting tilt
prior to the day’s training.
Knight: Good morning Caleb! Sir Praysalot tells me that you
have been baptized in Christ. Have you talked with
others about your faith?
Caleb: (Excited) Yes my lord! Sir Jim of Brazzell, my father,
has brought many to Christ through his dirt-patching
business. He has been a great example for me.
Knight: Yes he is. Did you know that before King Bobby took
over, the last king did not allow people to talk about
God and Jesus?
Caleb: That’s terrible, my lord. What did he do?
Knight: Sir Jim always follows God’s law, even if it means
going against the king’s law. He was beaten and sent to
prison for bowing before God instead of the king.
Caleb: He must have been very sad, my lord.
Knight: He missed his family very much but Ephesians 6:17a
tells us to take on the helmet of salvation if we are to be
9. children of God. Did you know that he led seven prison
guards to Christ while he was in chains?
Caleb: That does not surprise me, my lord. They probably
released him before he could convert the whole prison!
Knight: Indeed the king did, young lad. He is a modern-day
Paul. Do you have your helmet with you?
Caleb: I do, my lord. My father had Ephesians 6:17a etched
on my helmet!
Knight: By virtue of your life experiences, you have passed this
test. You only have three more tests to pass.
Caleb: Thank you, my lord! Shall we duel again at the tilt? I
have put on all of my armor.
Knight: I am ready, squire. Go to the opposite end and we will
start when I raise my hand (raises hand to start).
Caleb: I’ll knock you off your hobbyhorse this time, my lord!
(Falls to ground) Oww! Not again!
Knight: Did you forget something, squire-in-the-mire?
Caleb: (Head down) I was so excited to remember all my
armor that I forgot to take my shield to the duel.
Knight: So what did you learn from the duel, young Caleb?
Caleb: Ephesians 6:16 tells us to take on the shield of faith so
that the fiery darts of the wicked one won’t wound me.
When I didn’t have my shield, I was defenseless
because my faith was not with me.
10. Knight: You have impressed me by putting your faith to work.
It’s not about the mistakes that you make, but rather the
lessons that you have learned. You have passed yet
another test toward knighthood.
Caleb: Thank you, my lord! What else must I do?
Knight: There remains some work left to do, young Caleb. Be
much in prayer tonight about the completion of your
training. A prayerful warrior is a warrior after God’s
own heart, as was King David in days of yore.
Caleb: Good night, my lord! I can’t wait for God’s presence to
dwell in me.
11. Kingdom Chronicles: Full Armor of God
Day 5 Training
Theme: In order to put on the full armor of God, children of the
King must also take the sword of the Spirit and to
boldly pray in the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17b-18) if we are
to be true warriors of the Word.
Setting: The squire and knight once again are about ready to
start their last day of training by the jousting tilt.
Caleb: (Excited) My lord, I haven’t been this excited since I
got drawbridge passes to see Mercy Me and Lecrae!
Knight: Hold your hobbyhorses, Caleb! We have two final tests
before you finish your training. Have you your sword?
Caleb: Yes, my lord. I have etched the Bible verse “Ephesians
6:17b” on it. When I prayed last night I realized that
we haven’t discussed how to use the sword.
Knight: Very true, Caleb. Why is the sword different than the
rest of the armor used in spiritual warfare?
Caleb: All of the other armor defends you against the Evil One
but the sword of the Spirit is necessary to attack it.
Our Word of God, the Bible, keeps us from being
overcome by temptation and from being tricked by false
teachers who spew their lies.
Knight: I am so proud of you, Caleb! You passed this test with
flying colors, but will you pass the final test?
12. Caleb: I asked God for an extra portion of wisdom that I may
rightly divide His Word and fight with all that I have.
Knight: You have spoken well, squire, for the challenge today is
great. A fire-breathing dragon is about to attack the
village of Westerville and all of your armor is gone!
How will you be able to defeat the mighty dragon and
save the village? (Dragon appears throughout the
windows of the castle, making growling sounds)
Caleb: (Kneeling, head down and hands clasped, reading from
a prayer scroll; battle music in background)
Almighty God, for many generations You have
delivered great enemies into our hands against nearly
impossible odds. We know that these victories came
about by You alone and not through anything that we
might have done. Jericho was given into the hands of
Joshua’s army by merely blowing their horns and
Gideon’s army of 300 defeated thousands of Midianites
by simply obeying You. Though I have been stripped
of my garments, I still wear my scriptural armor that
You might see it. I know that Your Word is truth and
that Your righteousness is my righteousness. No
matter what happens today, O Lord, may Your will be
done and may You receive the glory through this trial
that our village faces. May the good news that is the
Gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ be made known
throughout the kingdom. I pray that my faith in You,
even if it is as a mustard seed, will allow me through
You to defeat this terrible dragon. If this dragon is sent
from You, O Lord, then we humbly beg You to forgive
our sin and to be merciful. But if it has come from the
Evil One, then please be on our side this day that You
may intervene on our behalf. May Your Spirit always
13. dwell in our hearts and may many come to Your Son
Jesus Christ, knowing that now is the acceptable time to
work out our salvation with fear and trembling. It is in
Your precious name that I ask this of You, and Amen.
Knight: (Dragon falls from castle window) The Lord was truly
with you today as you prayed with your whole heart!
You have saved our village from the fire-breathing
dragon. The armor of God is more than what we wear;
it’s the nature of a mature Christian. Congratulations
on passing the final test!
Caleb: (Excited) So I’m finally going to be a knight?
Knight: Not exactly, Caleb. You must continue to prove your
worth to King Bobby and to God, but in due time you
will be knighted. You have, however, been promoted
to the status of Sergeant! In fact, we brought none
other than our church deacon, Gary Sargent, to dub you
Sergeant Caleb of Brazzell. Brother Gary, will you
please do the honors?
Gary: (Caleb kneeling before him) Congratulations on your
heroic efforts on behalf of God and of the village of
Westerville. I now pronounce thee Sergeant Caleb of
Brazzell. Be obedient to God and serve Him well.
Caleb: Thank you, Brother Gary. I promise to use the full
armor of God to fight for His people and to continue to
grow in the Word. Goodbye, Sir Trainsalot, and thank
you for all that you have taught me.
Knight: You are very welcome, Sergeant Caleb. Send greetings
to Sir Jim and Sir Praysalot for me. May we all meet
again when God calls us to serve Him.
