In this paper, reasons on how inputs, tools and techniques and outputs associated with project execution differ when working with global project teams have been discussed. Along with this, three project management styles and its usefulness for virtual teams have also been discussed in this paper.
Project execution differs when working with the global project team. It has been analyzed that project charter has to acquire different resources at local as well as global level. Some of the project management styles are autocratic management style, democratic management style and participative style. In the autocratic style, manager will take the decision without consulting with other members (Carmichael, 2005). In the democratic style, manager share the work with the staff members and delegate with the authorities. In participative management style, manager will make decision by consulting with every member.
Virtual Teams are the members that are spread across different time zones, cultures and languages. These team members are united with the common goals. In the virtual team, project manager has to include the participative management style. With the help of this, project manager will be able to gain knowledge about the different cultures, values and languages (Harris, 2010). Further, project manager will also able to get innovative and creative ideas for the completion of project. These types of teams are formulated for the temporary purpose in order to complete the certain project.
