To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to serve as a professional reference for Mark Howard. Please feel free to
contact me directly if you have any questions regarding Mark Howard.
I have had the pleasure of working with Mark Howard at Flanders for the past 4½ years. During
this period, Mark reported to me as a Senior Engineer within the Electric Machines Department.
During these 4 plus years, I have found Mark to be a skilled and knowledgeable mechanical
designer. He willingly accepted some of the most complex projects within our department and
was successful in completing these projects and achieving the customer expectations. Mark
skillfully engaged with customers, sales personnel, technical experts, and other engineers, to
gather and compile all the required technical requirements and specification needed for a new
job. He held design reviews with cross functional teams to review and improve his designs
before releasing these to production. Mark willingly accepted feedback and made design
changes to enhance the designs, to improve their manufacturability, and to achieve the design
specifications. When his projects were being fabricated, assembled, and tested by production,
Mark effectively provided engineering support to the manufacturing leadership and associates.
Mark routinely received favorable feedback on his designs and his manufacturing support from
the production leaders, supervisors, and employees.
Mark has good knowledge and experience with drafting standards and practices. Mark is very
skilled utilizing Inventor, a 3D CAD software package from Autodesk, for the mechanical design
of new motors and mechanical accessories. In our efforts to improve our department’s technical
data and CAD files retention and management, Mark served as the technical lead for the
implementation of Autodesk Vault Profession for Flanders. In this capacity, he worked with our
Autodesk representative/consultants to install and configure Vault. He led and supervised a
younger engineer to accomplish the conversion and loading of legacy files into Vault
Professional. Mark provided training and served as the technical lead during the deployment of
Vault Professional within Flanders. Mark drafted Standard Operating Procedures for the use of
Autodesk Vault within Flanders. Mark again provided training on the SOP to all Vault users
within Flanders and continued to provide technical support.
Mark was also active to continue to enhance his professional skills. Mark attended the Autodesk
University, he completed training course in Electricity, AC Motors, DC Motor, GD&T and AC
Electrical Motor design. Mark also completed the following training for Autodesk Inventor:
Introduction to Solid Modeling, Advanced Parts Modeling, Advanced Assembly Modeling,
Sheet Metal Design, and iLogic Essentials. He completed the following training in Autodesk
Vault; Vault Basic Essentials, Vault Professional Essentials, and Vault Workgroups. To enhance
his project management skills, Mark also enrolled in a Project Management Certification
program offered by USI in Evansville.
2. During my time working with Mark, I have found Mark to be trustworthy, responsible, reliable,
and capable. He works to complete his assignments with high standards, good quality, and in a
timely manner. Mark exhibits confidence in his designs. He provides high levels of efforts on
his projects and willing works extra hours giving from his personal time when required to
complete the designs and projects within the timelines established. Mark is liked and respected
by his co-workers, manufacturing employees, and customers.
Mark has willing accepted projects that expand his roles and skills. He has opened expressed the
desire to move into a full time project manage role.
It is a pleasure and an honor to provide this letter of recommendation for Mark Howard. I
believe, Mark would prove to be a good addition to your organization. I highly recommend
Mark for the reasons outlined above.
Sincerely,
Bill Killion
