- 2. I‟ll never forget that team „pep talk‟ conference call.
- 3. It was not long ago…
- 4. We were all on a conference call, my upline and all his team,
- 5. about 130 people - and a good number were in my downline.
- 6. “You guys need lead prosperity,” droned Greg, our upline guru,
- 7. “…the person with the most leads wins, and that means buying more leads.
- 8. Let‟s hear from some of our top producers,
- 9. to see what they are doing to bring about lead prosperity…
- 10. Dave, let‟s start with you…”
- 11. Yeah Dave. Greg‟s number one lap dog.
- 12. Greg brought Dave over with him and built under his position.
- 13. Dave used to be Greg‟s upline in their old company.
- 14. “That‟s great advice Greg,” praised Dave, “you have to spend
- 15. good money to make good money,
- 16. and buying these online Internet leads is state-of-the-art.
- 17. I‟m mean, that‟s where all the action is.”
- 18. After the chorus of „Amen‟s‟ from most of the flock, one of
- 19. the newbies who didn‟t not know any better, said,
- 20. „Can I ask a question Greg?‟
- 21. And before Greg could cut him off, this new guy went on,
- 22. “Is it just me, or is anyone else struggling with these Internet leads?
- 23. I mean hardly any one answers the phone, and those that do –
- 24. no one remembers filling out a form,
- 25. or seems to have the slightest interest in Network Marketing –
- 26. and some are downright rude with me for calling them.
- 27. Is it just me, or is everyone having this problem?”
- 28. Boy, did I know how true that was.
- 29. Greg decided to avoid the issue and solved it by
- 30. asking me to respond, so I would look like the bad guy.
- 31. I hadn‟t expected to be called out,
- 32. it was my first time being asked my opinion.
- 34. What would I do, curry favor with Greg…
- 35. or dare tell the truth?
- 36. While I was thinking, Greg said
- 37. “Come on Andy, you‟ve been doing really great in the last 30 days,
- 38. 9 new distributors and a lot of qualifying volume,
- 39. you‟re having a great month.”
- 40. Greg knew I was really doing well in the last
- 41. 30 days by reading his backoffice stats.
- 42. He figured I was doing what he preached,
- 44. Those really were crap leads.
- 45. “Well to be honest Greg, I gave up on those
- 46. „so-called‟ leads two months ago,
- 47. and started focusing on recruiting offline,
- 48. and it‟s really working great.”
- 49. Greg and Dave started to snicker and giggle.
- 50. As soon as I heard their laughter I shut up.
- 51. I figured I better stop now, and not get into any more trouble,
- 52. but all of a sudden everyone else was talking!
- 53. “How did you do it?”
- 54. “Offline, what is it?”
- 55. “What are you doing?”
- 57. “Can anyone do it?”
- 58. “Andy, you‟ve got to share, what‟s your secret?”
- 59. “Come on and tell us!”
- 60. I forgot all about my upline and started to explain.

- 62. of my patience and had given up on buying leads,
- 63. nothing that came from the internet seemed to work for me.”
