The Village
The village of Valea Vinului with just over 200 inhabitants, located at the
entrance of the Rodna Mountains National Park, conquers you first with the
"cruel" nature that offers spectacular landscapes. The beautiful landscapes
are "intertwined" like a dream with legends that are now mentioned by the
inhabitants of this village who managed to enrich the nobles of Transylvania
in old times.
It was documented in 1853 with the name Borpatakhoz, being originally a
small Catholic Hungarian village.
Subsequently, the name was changed to the Valley of Wine, the name
coming from the alluvial-yellowish river, which crosses the locality. Local
people also associate the name of the locality with the mineral water that is
found in the area, which is as tasty as the wine.
Another jewelery waiting to be discovered in the village of Valea Vinului is
the "House of Writers", consisting of two buildings and a gazebo, under
which the drinks with which the Wine Valley meetings were sprinkled were
kept cold.
And there was little, given that Liviu Rebreanu, George Coşbuc, Mihail
Sadoveanu or Lucian Blaga were there.
