understanding how valuable the skills they've developed actually
are.

1. Finding Career Clarity
I find that most of my clients struggle with finding career clarity.
They are unsure what their next move should be and how to get
there. The No. 1 tip I give clients to find clarity is to create a list of
non-negotiables. What are the things you desire in your next stage
of success? When you know what you’re looking for, you won’t be
easily swayed by an opportunity that doesn’t meet your list. - Niya
Allen-Vatel, Resume Newbie
2. Comprehending Personal Value
Regardless of role, title or career position, many of my clients
struggle with understanding personal value. They need to better
"know thyself" in order to translate worth and offerings to
employers, colleagues, stakeholders or even their own clients. Skills
assessments, partnering with a coach and digging deep to identify
achievements are key to formulating a clear and consistent value
message. - Adrienne Tom, Career Impressions

In a digitally driven age, most people attempt to connect with others
online. The problem with trying to establish genuine connections
through blogging, emailing or social media: It doesn't work.
Humans do not form lasting relationships with others in the
absence of in-person contact. Get out of your comfort zone and
meet people in person! - Erin Urban, UPPSolutions, LLC
4. Leading With Inquiry
Many of my clients want to embed coaching into their management
practice. The first step I take in guiding them is the "ask, don't tell"
principle. When an employee comes to you with a problem or
question, replace the urge to tell with a question like, "What do you
think is a solution?" or "What is the first step to take?" By leading
with inquiry, you show trust in your team, and enable ownership
and engagement. - Loren Margolis, Training & Leadership Success
LLC
5. Communicating What's OK And What's Not
Boundaries and communicating what's OK and what's not OK is
always a challenge for clients. We are scared to offend others and
end up people-pleasing, but then feel like crap when we do. I have
two ways of clarifying boundaries. The first is to imagine that
everyone is wearing a hula hoop: You keep your "stuff" in your hula
hoop, and they keep their "stuff" in theirs. My second: Madea's "Let
'Em Go" video. - Frances McIntosh, Intentional Coaching LLC

business and career coaches. Do I qualify?
6. Overcoming Distractions
Getting distracted has nothing to do with intelligence or
competence. At every level, leaders are distracted. Their ability to
focus on key elements of their job success is compromised. I ask my
clients to bridge their intention with their impact. It requires saying
"no," setting appropriate boundaries, being in the moment and
focusing on the "vital few," so they can move the needle on what is
most important. - Evan Roth, Roth Consultancy International,
LLC.
7. Understanding That Time Is Money
Many of my clients are entrepreneurs who are drastically looking to
increase their revenue. A mistake they make is that they gravitate
to "free" marketing activities, even if it isn't the best pursuit. They
don't realize there is an opportunity cost associated with not
allocating their time correctly. Once they assign a dollar value to
their time, then things start to change. - Donald Hatter, Donald
Hatter Inc.
8. Refusing To Delegate
My clients are high-achieving millennials who often want to control
the outcome in every situation. This hinders them quite a bit as it
raises their stress level and prevents them from delegating. They
feel that no one can do it as well as they can, and the idea that
someone might be able to do it better is even more foreign. - Erika
Ashley Couto, It's Erika Ashley, Inc.
9. Creating Trust Between Senior Management And
Employees
Trust comes from what I feel, what I think and what you do. Lack of
trust is one of the largest obstacles to productivity and effectiveness.
The majority of these trust issues are not about lack of action, but
about the interpretation of facts, intentions or impacts in both
directions. But a fish cannot see water. Each side has to be helped to

see the "water" they have not previously seen. - Maureen
Cunningham, Up Until Now Inc.
10. Dealing With Millennials
Most clients are dealing with the issue of how to motivate and lead
millennials in the workforce. My top tip is to empower their
managers with the four essential habits for leading. Managers who
adopt the habits of listening with intention and attention, asking
powerful questions, communicating directly and holding critical
conversations can then unlock their ability to lead all generations of
people. - Aaron Levy, Raise The Bar Consulting

Some stress can be beneficial — producing a boost that provides the
drive and energy to help people get through situations — but an
extreme amount of stress can have negative effects on our physical
and emotional health. My five tips to help reduce stress: sleep,
