•in the 3rd century A.D. the Roman Emperor
Claudius II forbade marriages
•Valentine was a Christian priest
that performed marriages in secret
•for this reason he was caught and imprisoned
7. • while in prison he fell in love with the jailer’s
blind daughter
• with his abilities he cured her blindness
• before dying he sent her a letter signed
‘From your Valentine’
• he died on February 14th
